I was referred to BlackDog for their Board & Train program for my reactive dog, Stella, after she had a dog bite incident and a couple of bites involving people. I was incredibly nervous as right before our training, we had another incident. From my very first conversation with Zack, I felt reassured. He took the time to answer all my questions (I had so many) ease my concerns, and explain their approach working with dogs with behavior issues. The entire TEAM, Zack, Elsie, Etsuko, and Sabrina have been exceptional. They were patient, compassionate, and allowed Stella the time she needed to adjust before beginning training. They were also so kind to me as well as this was the longest time I’ve been apart from her for the 4 week board and train. I received detailed daily updates with videos, which eased my mind on how she was doing but also made it easy to see her progress and have video training to continue that work at home. The support didn’t stop after Board & Train. We received 1:1 at home sessions. Elsie continues to work with Stella and I on her 1:1 training in our neighborhood, and Zack has generously helped us with meet-and-greets and structured walks with other dogs to build both our confidence. Zack and Elsie’s commitment beyond the board and train is unmatched! We are so grateful for them. The difference in Stella has been incredible. She now engages with me on walks, takes treats outside, is far less reactive and nervous outside, and has successfully completed several dog introductions. I never imagined we’d be where we are today 🤍🙏 BlackDog has truly changed both Stella’s life and mine. If you’re looking for a team that genuinely cares about your dog and is invested in your success long after training ends, I can’t recommend them enough. It truly takes a village to help a reactive dog and I am so glad I have found one we trust and adore. Thank you for everything you do!

My experience with Black Dog, specifically Yasmin’s separation anxiety program, has been incredibly positive. Having a dog with complex behavioral and medical challenges, the structure and consistent support Yasmin provides have made a meaningful difference in our life. I not only feel like I have access to talented trainers, but also a reliable support system. We still have a long ways to go, but we will do it with Black Dog:)

Great trainers for dogs, I did the day training where it is 2 drop offs a week for 4 weeks after initial evaluation ($1600). They did a great job with Theory (GSD 14 week puppy at the time). He was much more focus on our walks and was very excited for training. The reason I’m taking away 2 stars is because of the professionalism from the staff. Zack was the member who personally worked with Theory. He would cancel within the last hour on the day of THREE TIMES. Keep in mind I’m taking an hour of personal leave to drop my dog off. Then I had to haul him down after a month of silence for a follow up appointment! To make it more ridiculous the staff said I get two follow up appointments but HE PROCEEDED TO CANCEL ON A THE LAST APPOINTMENT. He claimed that it is “actually a comped follow up appointment”. Fine whatever, I felt lied to but let’s reschedule for the so called additional follow up visit. Never does…. I had debated on getting a partial refund because I felt like I didn’t pay for a $1500 service. It was disappointing experience on my end however that doesn’t disenfranchise their work with Theory. I would’ve done a board and train for a week but I was too scared that he will cancel last minute at that. Will not be a returning customer, too unreliable. Didn’t do anything to rectify the matter to make me feel happy about the arrangement at all. I don’t leave reviews often but when I do it’s because the company had that much of an affect on me.
