We have a very fearful dog we signed up for on-leash behavior modification training. We were nervous taking this step with her, but Tim was incredibly kind and encouraging, which allowed her to feel safe and comfortable to learn new things! We learned so many useful skills to help our sweet girl be safe and to feel safe in this unpredictable world. We still have a long road ahead of us, but the training we received here has been life changing for our dog. I would reccomended this training service to anyone! Black Hills K9 and Trainer Tim are amazing! We brought our family dog, Muffin, for a 6 week course and it’s made all the difference. Before training, we didn’t understand our working breed dog and how to get her to listen to us. Leash walks were frustrating due to pulling/dragging us down the road. Every leash we had purchased was chewed apart within days. I had given up on family vacations with the dog because nothing seemed to work. Tim helped me find the right leash, collar, and treats to motivate our dog. He helped me recognize when my dog was engaging with me or displaying dominant behaviors. Now, I can truly enjoy walks in the park or on trails. We spent most of our training time in the large training facility which gave us plenty of space to learn with a clean and inviting environment inside away from the winter elements. However, before and during some training sessions, we walked the grounds outside to help practice. Tim was super helpful and professional. He also pivoted when we struggled with implementing a certain skill set to give us more tips and tricks specific to our dog and family dynamic. His flexibility and patience made all the difference with previous classes or training tools we had attempted in the past. Tim is a consummate professional—he took the time to understand our goals and our dog’s needs, and then prioritized the training around those concerns. The results in just six weeks were remarkable. Beyond the training itself, Tim went above and beyond with small but meaningful gestures—like a welcome sign for our dog Butters and shoveling a path for us on a cold morning.
