Birch Valley K9

We had a wonderful experience with Birch Valley K9 for the 4 week board and train. We have a 2 year old golden retriever, Sunny, whose lack of training on our part was starting to cause chaos in the house, the biggest issue being jumping up to shoulder level on everyone who walked through the door. Tommy and Allie trained her on all of her basic commands- in particular 'place', 'stay' and recall, which were all desperately needed, and she is doing phenomenal with heeling. Best of all, while still easily excitable, she no longer knocks people off their feet when they walk through the door. We also received constant communication throughout the entire program, receiving pictures, videos, and updates, and our personal training sessions throughout the month and immediately following were invaluable. Since we got her back, our home environment is significantly less stressful. It was well worth it, our only regret is that we did not do it sooner. Highly recommend!

So so so impressed with our experience with Birch Valley K9, I don’t even know where to begin. First and foremost, the Birch Valley Team are all really amazing people, and the customer service is premium. You can tell they really care about the dogs that come through them as well as meeting the goals of the customers needs. I’ve had my two dogs (Bruno and Brandy) for almost 7 years. Both dogs have very different personalities. Brandy the fun, loving sweetheart but a very short attention span, and Bruno the anxious, too smart for his own good with a slightly unpredictable/territorial demeanor. I’ve had Bruno trained twice, he was always the “star pupil” at the classes but then a different story when we brought him home: don’t get me wrong a lot of this was our lack of discipline and time spent on training at home. All of this was manageable until we added a baby to the bunch, but rehoming Bruno and Brandy was NOT an option. We moved to Dayton over the summer and I immediately googled board and trains and found Birch Valley. It was out of the norm because they offered more than just the usual 2.5 week board and train. I thought on it for quite some time because I was worried about two things: 1.) if it would work, especially for Bruno with his record of past trainings 2.) I had some slight concern they’d come back as robot dogs with no personality (LOL, as if). They came back to us as the same fun, loving, goofy dogs, but sooo much easier to manage. Not to mentioned they look super fit and healthy (shame on us for letting them get even slightly overweight)… Bottom line; you can indeed teach old(er) dogs new tricks and I highly recommend Birch Valley K9 to do so. Our dogs also love and trust Tommy, Allie and their team, so we will most definitely continue to use them for future boarding and daycare! We cannot recommend Birch Valley K9 enough! Allie and Tommy were amazing with our pup Sasha and our family. We started looking for training for our girl when she was just under 1 year for the following reasons. She would run out doors, chew kids toys, try to steal food, pull incessantly when on a leash, and was too rough with our kids. It got to the point that we were not able to do simple things with her such as go on a walk as a family or play all together in the back yard due to these behaviors. As a mom of littles I was always needing at least one if not two hands on the leash to keep her or near me and not running over our little ones. We ended up going with a 5 week board and train for our girl and it was the best decision! Our girl can now be a part of our family and be included in all the things. She can play safely with our kids, run around in the front yard safely, and be more free than ever before. We are so impressed with her progress and how she continues to learn with all the skills that Allie and Tommy taught us. Thank you Birch Valley K9!

Absolutely incredible and life changing! If you are reading this, you are probably just like our family. We couldn't love our dog any more than we already do and she is treated just like anyone else in the family. Unfortunately, young pups are like young children (oftentimes even more difficult) and it makes it so hard to give them any freedom because the trust is just not there. Plus, any fun activity you want to bring them to is exponentially more difficult when they don't behave. A great morning hike starting with doughnuts turns into chaos; the kids team practice becomes nothing but a struggle; dinner becomes more correcting than eating. So, here you are looking for a good trainer, just like we were. We wanted someone who honestly cared, was truly knowledgeable and experienced; who literally put their heart into loving and training our girl like we would want. You've found them. Allie, Tommy and Sam too, they are amazing. They are everything you could ask for and more. We recently finished the 4-week board & train with our 13-month golden retriever Kiwi. Her life, and our lives, are infinitely better with how much those 4 weeks changed things. Trust - we can open our front door without Kiwi running out, we can open the back door without Kiwi playing knock-the-kids-down running out the door, she will stay in place when visitors come to say hi. Freedom - we can play out front, go to the park, hikes, kids practices, stores and we know she's going to listen to us. Communication - I think they literally taught us along with Kiwi how to talk to each other. I could go on and on, it would seem like rambling, but I would recommend Birch Valley K9 to anyone in my family, all my friends and anyone who asks. Truly amazing what they do, and how much they have changed our lives, and Kiwi's life for the better. Thank you Tommy, Allie and Sam, we are forever grateful!
