Ryan took our wild and willful puppy and helped her become the wonderful polite family member we knew was in there all along. We have never used a dog trainer before and when we got a northern breed puppy we knew we didn’t have the dedicated time to train her properly. Ryan was recommended from a friend with our same breed (Native American Indian Dog NAID) and assured us that Ryan could handle the nuances of the breed (emotionally sensitive but stubborn and extremely intelligent with a lot of energy). Ryan absolutely changed our family dynamic by reeling in our sweet girls energy into task oriented learning & polite leash & off leash adventures. I can now bike with her without fear, and the freedom & peace of mind this training and her indoor manners training has provided is such a complete relief. Our pup loves Ryan so much that whenever we leave town, she goes back to board with him! Having a trusted trainer & boarding all in one has been a God send. Ryan and Balanced K9 have my absolute highest recommendation!

We dropped our 8 month old St. Bernard off to Ryan for the 2 week training and got back a totally different dog (in the best way!). Her behaviors that we were concerned about were no longer a concern. We can actually walk our 100 lb puppy with no issues which wouldn’t have been possible without Ryan. Then Ryan came to our house after to show us even more of what we should be doing to help enhance what he had taught her. We are so pleased with Balanced K9 and would highly recommend him!

We enrolled our Boxer puppy in the two-week board and train program on June 8th. Initially, Ryan was fantastic. He promptly returned with his schedule and scheduled our puppy’s stay. Throughout the two-week stay, he kept us updated on our puppy’s progress. Upon returning our puppy, it felt like we had a new dog. Ryan followed up a few days later, visited us on June 30th, and assisted us with additional training at our home. He assured us that he would follow up. However, I haven’t heard from him in a while since our last visit. On July 27th, I reached out to him, but he didn’t respond. I gave it a few days and, on July 29th, I tried texting another phone number. He responded back and informed me that he was out of town and would contact me later that day to schedule a follow-up. It is August 19th, and I haven’t received any follow-ups. I spent $3K on the board and train program, and he mentioned that I could have as many follow-ups as needed until I no longer required his services. Yes, my dog is stubborn, but consistency is crucial. I continued using the prong collar and adhered to the training methods he recommended. However, he left me high and dry, and it seemed like he stopped following up with me. I had to resort to alternative training methods for my puppy. I feel like I did something wrong here, It’s as if he gave up on us. While others have left positive reviews and had great experiences, I’m the unfortunate one who had a negative experience towards the end without any explanation. As I mentioned earlier, the program was great at first, but it deteriorated towards the end. I’ve thoroughly considered this review and decided to share my perspective. I hope that someone else will have a better experience than I did. I initially wanted to give him a five-star rating, but I ended up giving him two stars instead. My puppy has learned the basic commands and has a solid foundation, but I’ve found other training options that better suit our needs, and would not use him in the near future for other needs.

We sent our 20 week old golden retriever to Ryan at Balanced K9 Services for a two week training stay. Our pup came back with an impressive obedience foundation that has allowed us to continue training. Following the 2week onsite training, Ryan came to our home over the following weeks to work with us and help practice training techniques. He gave us incremental “homework” training exercises to work on with our pup and returned to monitor our progress and make suggestions for improvements. Our dog is doing great and we have learned so much. Ryan is a patient and skilled dog trainer. He is kind and easy to work with. 10/10 recommend
