FirstBarkMJ was an amazing trainer for our dog, Stevie! She saw improvements week-over-week and she continues to improve on the commands that were taught during the program. I would strongly recommend the puppy training to support your dog in learning their basic commands!

Do you have a training facility?
Not right now. We do in home visits or meet in the middle for training sessions as we prefer to work outside. We want to train pups to listen better and more consistently outside (outdoors is where it gets difficult for them). Hope this helps!

We were paired with Jenn to help train our 2.5 year old bully, Remy, through the behavior modification program. Jenn came into our home and immediately gave us amazing tips and advice before we jumped into training. She listened to the areas of growth we needed, offered her extensive knowledge on body language, and encouraged more stimulation for Remy after reviewing our schedule. She truly cared for Remy’s wellbeing and wanted to see her skills broaden and be able to implement them into her leash reactivity as well as everyday use in the home. Week after week, Jenn checked on our training progress, sent helpful links, and gave positive feedback not only for Remy but for me as well. We saw improvement in walks with reactivity and leash pulling, new commands being utilized, and an increased bond with our Remy girl. Being able to train in our house and neighborhood as well as by PPC, was an added bonus. Did I mention we also did this in the middle of winter when it was freezing? The dedication was real! Jenn truly is a gem and at the end of our program we knew we would keep in touch and plan to work with her again. If you need a review to take the leap and schedule training, let this be the one that pushes you!

I had high hopes for Back to Basics Dog Training but was ultimately disappointed with the experience. We paid $750 for five at-home training sessions, expecting professional and reliable service. Unfortunately, our trainer canceled on us twice on the day of our scheduled sessions due to unforeseen circumstances. When they did show up for the third session, they arrived late due to miscommunication. While the training provided some guidance, it did not feel commensurate with the price we paid. Given the repeated cancellations and lack of consistency, we decided not to continue with the final two sessions and requested a refund. The owner reimbursed us $150 of the $750 paid, which did not reflect the inconvenience and incomplete service. Overall, the experience was frustrating, and I wouldn’t recommend Back to Basics Dog Training. Reliability and value for money are key when investing in professional training, and unfortunately, this service did not meet expectations.

We saw a MASSIVE reduction in barking after one session and almost entirely eliminated jumping. Highly recommend MJ to anyone and everyone who owns a dog and is looking to train the basics. She is very obviously a dog lover, very patient, knowledgeable and passionate about training. We loved our experience with her and look forward to working with her in the future!
Duncan responded very well to MJ and the training techniques. After each training session, we received detailed feedback on what we reviewed and homework to do before next session. Back to Basics was flexible and helpful with our schedule.
