At Whits End Dog Training

We rescued a German shepherd and despite our experience with dogs we found ourselves struggling. He Lacked confidence, was anxious and fearful, stubborn, high energy, resource guarding, small prey drive, difficult on walks ... so we reached out to whits end. The team has been incredible and 3 weeks home working through the training program after his initial board and train with whits end and we have a totally different dog. Definitely worth the investment for your dog and your family.

I have no idea where to start in writing this review because there is just so much to say but I will just dive in. I adopted my fur baby, Maia, when she was 2 months old. I had never raised a dog from puppy stage so to say I was overwhelmed was an understatement. She had gotten to the stage of nipping at anyone and everyone plus being destructive and I was to the point where I just didn't know if I could do it. I found At Whits End during a Google search and decided it would be my last ditch hope. Calling Matt and Candace was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Matt came out and did a demo and evaluated Maia. Within the first 5 minutes, she was a different dog. We started to train her when she was just over 4 months old. Not even 3 months later, I can walk her without her pulling and she follows commands. She is overall the best dog I could have asked for. He created the structure I needed to have in order to make her a happy dog which then cultivated my bond with her and inevitably made us a happy family overall. The best part about Matt and Candace is that they treat you like family. They are literally vested in you and your fur baby. Maia gets so excited when she sees Matt and cannot stop trying to give him puppy kisses and she just wants to be near him. The point is, Matt built a relationship of trust with Maia. He treats her as if she were part of his "pack." As for me, he is incredibly patient in showing me what I need to be doing and answers my million questions. I can call or text him with questions and he gets right back to me. Even today, he came out to help me fit Maia with a new collar. This was on his own time. As I said, when you start working with Matt and Candace, they become family. He has changed our lives beyond measure. I would never trust the guidance and care of our fur baby Maia to anyone else.

Before training with At Whits End, our 5 year old, 75 pound mutt Samoa's protective behaviors were a huge struggle for us. We were frustrated that we couldn't have people over to our house without crating her and had no confidence in taking her on walks anywhere remotely public. She has always been great with our 2 year old son and our other pup, but anyone outside our household was a struggle for her. She would bark and at times lunge at anyone she didn't know. After our free consultation, we were impressed, but admittedly skeptical with the change Matt said he could lead us to with Samoa. He worked with us for 6 weeks in our home and at the park to not only improve her behavior, but to build our confidence and skills in working with her. Not only is she a better dog, but we're better owners with more and more confidence after every lesson. The differences we see in Samoa have blown us away. What we learned from Matt has also helped us provide better structure and be better owners to our other dog too. Candice was always super responsive and understanding whenever we needed to reschedule an appointment or had any questions. Even before we finished all of our lessons, I've been recommending Matt, Candice, and At Whits End to everyone I know of who has any struggles with their dog. They know what they're doing, and they do it well. Working with them is an investment in our family's happiness that I surely won't regret!
