An autism service dog provides immeasurable benefits, the following is a list of ways an autism service dog can help: provides deep pressure therapy, wakes the recipient, redirects self-destructive or stimming behaviors, provides familiarity and comfort in new environments, alerts when wandering occurs, creates a physical buffer or barrier, acts as an "anchor" to prevent wandering, carries medications and medical documentation, enables confidence and independence, assists with the development of social and communication skills, and provides companionship.

Mobility Support Service Dog VS a Walker - A dog will come when called, fit into unique spaces, travel "off road" with their handler on grass or gravel, and jumps in the car when it's time to go! Can a walker do that? The following list is just a few more ways they can help: Provides balance, assists with sitting and standing, carries objects such as oxygen tanks, turns lights on/off, pushes indicated buttons (such as an emergency call, elevator button, or automatic door), opens/closes doors, alerts a specific person when assistance is needed, provides familiarity and comfort in new environments, carries medications and medical documentation, enables confidence and independence, provides companionship, and grabs, picks up, drops, relocates, and hands indicated objects to the handler.

How are the prices for training a dog for service dog
After completing a basic obedience program, we offer advanced Service Dog, Therapy Dog, or Emotional Support Dog lessons. These include task training and public access. The 1 hour private lessons are $150 each. Please contact us for additional information!

I was previously unable to leave my home by myself and my children struggled with complex trauma. Since having our girl Meg come into our home, we are more than just surviving…we are THRIVING! Amanda, the owner of ASA, personally ensures top notch training and always makes sure you feel comfortable with working with your furry teammate. She has been available to answer questions after Meg came home with us and she feels as much a part of our family as Meg! After our son was diagnosed with autism, we began reading and researching ways we could help. We thought a service dog was a pipe dream but then we found ASA through a friend. We were so happy to discover they didn’t have an age limit and were more cost effective. We were so excited when we matched with our handsome standard poodle, Pan. From our first meeting, Pan seemed to know our son was his boy, watching him and responding to him when he got upset. The months between matching day and gotcha day seemed to take forever but worth the wait. Pan has been in our home for two weeks, and we already see a change in our son. His anxiety is much lower and he is stimming much less. His smiles and giggles as he interacts with Pan are priceless. Thank you to Amanda and all the junior trainers and puppy raisers for making our dream a reality. We’ll forever be grateful to ASA for changing our lives.
Amanda was excellent with our dog and learned his personality and what best would work for his mobility service training. We highly recommend her services.
