Art of the Dog Canine Academy

We have been so impressed with Art of the Dog. Our pup has been calm and kind since she has been home and we feel equipped to support her positive changes. She was actually a little sad to leave her trainer, Amber, and that made me feel good! Our pup is still her silly, playful self, but now shows so much more self-control in exciting situations. We couldn’t be happier, and we look forward to one-on-ones and watching her continued growth. We are so proud! Thank you, Art of the Dog Longmont!

Dog is man’s best friend, but sometimes our dogs are out of control and we need more help than a Google search can provide. When your training capacity comes to an end, but your pup needs more help, that’s when Art of the Dog is a fantastic option to invest in for your family. I have a two year old lab mix that recently finished the 21 day training camp with Art of the Dog. My dog, River, is a high energy dog with some significant reactivity and impulsive behaviors which had become more than I could manage at home. Sending River to training was the best decision I could have possibly made. Per my vet’s recommendation I reached out to Art of the Dog for more information. They were very professional, provided a robust amount of information, and were attentive to all of my questions. When I decided this was the right fit for River, they provided clear instructions for preparation for me to prepare for River’s stay. During drop-off, I was impressed by the well-maintained facility and kennels. Day 1 I immediately received photos and video of River at the facility and this high-quality standard of communication and updates continued throughout River’s 21 day stay. River learned so many skills and this honestly has transformed our lives since his returning home. He’s still a silly boy, but he now knows how to follow commands and I’m able to maintain a stable and safe home environment. The training also included valuable homework packets and video skills training for me to work on while he was away to ensure that I would be able to continue the work he’d completed while at training. The staff continue to be a fantastic ongoing resource for questions. River’s main trainer was Ben, and River learned so much from him! I fully recommend this training facility to those looking for a board and train option for their furry friend.

River & Jamie were so great with our boy, Linkin! He’s a young Catahoula Leopard mix…. And he has LOADS of energy & had very little impulse control. After spending time at AOD, he’s now able to have quiet time in the house on his bed. He’s so much easier to work with both in & out of the house. And their follow up care after training has been next level!!! I’m so glad that we were able to have the opportunity to send Linkin to them!

This place is awesome! If you’re looking to get your dog trained, I definitely recommend Art of the Dog Academy. Everyone there is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They did an amazing job training my dog and kept me updated every day on his progress. Now I can take my dog out in public without being nervous or worried. Seeing how much he has improved has given me so much more confidence, and he’ll be able to explore the world and enjoy more experiences because of his training. Believe me this is well worth it to show your best friend good behavior so you can spend more quality time together and with friends. I’m extremely happy with the results and the care they gave my dog. I highly recommend Art of the Dog Academy to anyone looking for a professional and caring dog training facility!

We had an amazing experience with Art of the Dog, especially having two dogs attend the program at the same time. Jett and Jocko have completely different personalities, and it was impressive to see how the trainers recognized those differences while still working toward the same goals and results with both dogs. Jett is a little more stubborn and requires more patience and consistency, while Jocko is a young pup who is eager and willing to learn. They have different personalities, different motivations, and different learning styles. What stood out to us was that the training wasn’t a “one size fits all” approach. The expectations and end goals remained consistent, but the trainers understood that each dog might need a different path to get there. The constant communication throughout the program made me feel completely at ease. Knowing that our dogs were being monitored 24/7 was incredibly comforting, especially while they were away from us. We received daily updates with adorable pictures of Jett and Jocko, which gave us a chance to see how they were doing and made us feel connected to them throughout the process. We also received daily videos of the dogs in action. These were especially helpful because Lauren, our trainer, was incredibly detailed in explaining what she was doing, why she was doing it, and what the intended result was. Seeing the corrections happen in real time made it much easier for us to understand the training and apply those same corrections once the dogs came home. CJ, the head trainer, also reached out to us about individual issues with each of our dogs. Even the smaller, more personal concerns were handled with care and attention to make sure Jett and Jocko were comfortable and doing well. That level of communication and personal attention really stood out to us and showed how much the team genuinely cares about the dogs in their program. The progress in both dogs was incredible. More importantly, we learned how to communicate with them effectively and how to continue reinforcing what they learned at home. The training wasn’t just about teaching the dogs commands—it was about teaching us how to be better, more consistent owners. The entire team was knowledgeable, patient, professional, and genuinely invested in our dogs’ success. Lauren was exceptional with her attention to detail, and CJ’s communication gave us an added level of confidence that our dogs were being well cared for. Having two very different dogs go through the program together really showed us the value of experienced trainers who understand that every dog learns differently while maintaining consistent expectations. We are extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend Art of the Dog. Jett and Jocko both made tremendous progress, and we came away with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to continue building on that progress at home. Five stars without hesitation!
