Art of the Dog Canine Academy

Took my two dogs (border collie and australian shepard) to AOD to work on general behavior skills and commands. AOD did an amazing job, my dogs don't bark as much, listen to commands and are a pleasure to walk. No more pulling or being distracted, they are truly well behaved dogs. The ongoing support is also very helpful as the training they did has to be reinforced each week and they have been very responsive once we got them home to any questions we have. Highly recommend and well worth the investment.

I was referred to Art of the Dog by my sister, her dog went through the program several years ago. I adopted a 1.5 YO yellow lab from the shelter and he had terrible manners. When I brought him home he had zero leash training and it hurt to walk him because of how hard he pulled - it felt unsafe. When I took him outside to potty, he would get angry on the leash and he bit me twice, pretty hard. Inside the house he chased after my cat, got all over the counters, got in the sinks, jumped all over me and was just a nightmare. I couldn't sit down for several days because he just wouldn't let me. I called Art of the Dog right away and they were able to make space for him quickly. He's been home for 1 month now and I can't thank them enough! He understands the word "no" and that is super helpful! He has GREAT recall and is able to be outside without his leash. He does not chase my cat and he has not bit me. Most importantly, we are able to have a pleasant time on his daily walks. I have a new dog with the same happy and friendly personality. He meets people now without jumping on them too. I will recommend Art of the Dog to anyone struggling with their dog's behavior.

For 3 weeks in the month of March 2024, we had our 8 year old Bordie Collie at Art of the Dog. She is an extremely smart dog, very excitable, has a lot of anxiety around people and other dogs as well as a strong personality. We could not take her in the car, put her on a leash or introduce her safely to family and friends. After just 3 weeks with Art of the Dog, we got back our dream dog! They not only trained her but they also trained us on how to keep her training and behavior going after she returned home. The transformation was incredible! Neighbors and others have commented on what a changed dog she is. She no longer takes CBD oil daily for anxiety, she heels on a leash like a champ, she is under voice control and no longer intimidates others when they are on our property. We didn't think it possible...... We were skeptical about how much change an 8 year dog could make (can't teach an old dog new tricks) however she ROCKED it. The daily pictures and progress reports kept us up to speed. The amount of anxiety in our household over her past behaviors has been eliminated. Best money we have every spent!! Kudos to Art of the Dog!!!!!

Weird review but here it is. We took our young dog Argos to them for a 3 week board and train. A few days in we learned that he was in need of urgent vet care. Let me be very clear art of the dog did not cause the problem. Turns out our dog ate a toy a day or two before he left for training. With that said art of the dog was probably the best place for your dog to be urgently sick. They sent daily updates and we were able to monitor as his condition worsened. We finally took him to the vet but had amazing counsel from the team at art of the dog. Honestly they cared for my dog better than I could have. It speaks volumes to the quality of the company when they care for your dog and communicate so well with us. They've already agreed to get him caught back up and back into training with no additional charge. He made amazing progress in his puppy classes and the few days of board and train. The facility is amazing and the people are top notch. I only gave five stars because six is not available.
