Alpha Instincts Dog Training

My family brought our dog Max, a German Shepherd mix, into our household just prior to the beginning of the pandemic. We quickly realized that the issues he had (reactivity to some people, dogs, and situations) were beyond our ability to resolve. Because of the lockdowns and related family issues, we needed to be able to train at home. Rachel Moore and Alpha Instincts came to the rescue and helped us in more ways than I can describe. Rachel quickly came up with strategies to help us work with Max (who adored Rachel after about 10 minutes of her working with him) and get him to a better place mentally and behaviorally. We could not be happier with Alpha Instincts and strongly recommend them to anyone we know who is looking for effective dog training, great support, and a way to make teaching and living with a dog a lot more fun.

TLDR: noticeable results and a friendly staff We worked with both Rachel and Megan during this process. Rachel would come and do house visits and was very approachable and responsive. Willie even took a liking to her and he does not normally like new people, which made us significantly more comfortable with them training him. Megan was the one who did the 4 week training, which we wish she had met him prior to the start day (our only complaint). She was very responsive and sent tons of photos of him in training. Sooo much improvement in his behavior on leash. Would definitely recommend Alpha Instinct.

I reached out to Alpha Instincts Training after I was continuing to have some reactivity issues with my dog. He had a hard time passing other dogs without lunging and barking at them and he got really nervous in environments with a lot of people. I had done his training on my own prior, but felt stuck and unable to progress further and new I needed help from a professional! I initially met with Megan for my evaluation and she walked me through what the process would be like. I ended up working with Amy, who was in training, and also met Rachel, the owner, who shadowed our sessions. Amy was great! She was very patient and took the time to explain why we were doing what we were doing. We started out in my home and working on building better engagement with techniques I hadn't tried before. I was only able to do 4 sessions with them, but over the course of about a month, they helped me get back to basics and really work on building a better foundation and relationship with my dog so we could work through these situations together and help him feel more confident. We still have a lot of work to do but they have helped me feel more confident in my handling capabilities as well. Highly recommend!

Starting with the in-home evaluation, Rachel quickly assessed our 1 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi and provided valuable tips, insights, and recommended training program. Her time, effort and professionalism greatly helped us in many areas (walking on lease in busy areas/parks, addressing people who want to pet our dog, clicker training, enrichment ideas, and so much more) in only 2 weeks. She even helped us with vet visits! We are so happy with the information and training, that I have asked for more... muzzle training is next. Best part, she is very patient with the "parents," too!!
