All Purpose Canine

We have an anxious, nervous Bernedoodle who has struggled since he was a puppy. We tried everything. Positive reinforcement, counter-conditioning, and redirection, but nothing was really working because we didn't know how to communicate with our dog. The main issue we wanted to work on was his confidence in public areas; he used to struggle with barking and would walk with his tail tucked between his legs. We saw their group classes at lake elizabeth and decided that it was time to work with a professional. Now, after just four sessions, his tail is up and he has gotten much more comfortable in public. We are so grateful to see improvement in our little guy! Thank you Caitlin + Rick for helping us to commmunicate with our dog better.

Rick at All Purpose Canine has been an absolute game-changer for our family and our dog. We have been working with him for almost a year doing both private and group training classes and cannot recommend him enough. We first started working with Rick for puppy training. We were struggling with biting and other challenging puppy behaviors. His knowledge, patience, and training methods made a tremendous difference. He not only helped stop the biting but also provided us with the tools and guidance needed to reinforce good behavior at home. The obedience training is seamlessly worked into play and our dog loves training time. She has learned so much and we love when people compliment her behavior. Potty training was another area where Rick exceeded our expectations. His clear communication and practical training approach helped our dog learn quickly, making what could have been a stressful process much easier for everyone involved. One of the things we appreciate most is that Rick also offers board and train services we have used when we’re away on trips. It’s incredibly reassuring to know our dog is in such capable hands and continues to receive structure, care, and training while we’re gone. Our dog is always excited to see him and comes home happy, well-behaved, and refreshed. Rick genuinely cares about the dogs he works with and the families he helps. His professionalism, reliability, and results speak for themselves. I’ve been working with Rick and Caitlin for several months and this has been the best investment I’ve made with my new rescue dog. They really know their stuff when it comes to training, understanding dog behavior, and training equipment. My dog was really reactive on walks/lacking confidence and I’ve seen so much improvement in her-she is no longer triggered by other dogs or bikes and she doesn’t pull on the leash either. I’ve had people compliment me on how well behaved she is. Rick and Caitlin are very patient and really individualize the sessions to work on what you want. They’ve also helped me gain knowledge and skill around how to better understand my dog and correct/reinforce behavior. The park group sessions are also really helpful because we get to take what we worked on individually and apply it with other dogs and people around. They’re both great with dogs, mine gets really excited to see them and you can tell they really have a passion for what they do. I’ve even boarded my dog with them, knowing she’d be well cared for. Highly recommend them for your dog training needs!

We can’t say enough good things about All Purpose Canine! We started individual training lessons with our Border Collie/McNab puppy, Millie, when she was still under a year old. As many people know, Border Collies are incredibly intelligent but also incredibly high energy, and we wanted to make sure we were setting her up for success. When we first started, we had concerns about Millie not always listening to commands, getting distracted easily, and potentially running off if given the opportunity. We wanted a dog who was reliable, responsive, and safe, and All Purpose Canine helped us get there. They were patient, knowledgeable, and always took the time to explain not just what to do, but why it worked. They helped us understand our dog’s needs, build a stronger relationship with her, and gave us the tools to work with such a smart and energetic breed. The progress Millie has made has been amazing.
