All In Stride Dog Training

Shortly after we adopted the sweetest girl, Gracie, from our local rescue, we found out that she was struggling with separation anxiety and could not be left in a crate or out home alone. I felt absolutely hopeless, stressed beyond belief, and feeling like I was never going to be able to leave my apartment again. After lots of tears and frantic google searching for help, I reached out to Elly and she called me back right away. She listened to what we were going through, educated me about separation anxiety in dogs, and explained how training to help this anxiety is so much different from obedience training. Truly, I felt like Elly was the only person who understood what we were going through. Every other trainer just told me I needed to exercise my dog more or send her to basic obedience classes when I knew that that was not the issue. Elly is incredibly kind, accommodating, SUPPORTIVE, and really listens and cares about you and your dog. She provides you training "missions" each week that help your dog become comfortable with you leaving for longer durations, and these missions are personally tailored to your dog and where they are at after each mission Fast forward 6 months after working with Elly and I feel like I have a renewed sense of hope and a solid plan on how to continue progressing with our dog! We went from catastrophic meltdowns (crying, destructive behavior, and going to the bathroom in the apartment) to her learning how to self regulate and keep herself calm enough to curl up in our bed when we leave. With all of the help and support from Elly, I know that we are going to be able to continue increasing the time that we are away. We worked with Elly for three months to help address our dog’s separation anxiety. Elly came recommended by a fellow dog trainer. We reached out to her because we were having trouble making progress on our own and needed additional support. We met with Elly initially for a consultation to determine our dog’s threshold for being left alone. We also discussed how separation anxiety training would work and what reasonable expectations looked like. After that, Elly developed a plan where we completed “missions” four days a week and then met with her once a week to check in on progress. All of our meetings with Elly were virtual. She wrote out the missions in a shared Google Doc, where we could also track important factors that might be affecting our dog’s threshold day to day. Overall, we were very happy with Elly and the progress our dog made. It was extremely helpful to have someone designing our missions and guiding how we should proceed day to day. Meeting with Elly once a week was invaluable—we got consistent reinforcement around the positive steps we were taking and were able to ask questions that came up during that week’s training. We found Elly to be encouraging, positive, and resourceful. She was realistic with us about how quickly we would see results, but always celebrated every inch of progress we made. Prior to working with Elly, there were times we truly felt like there was no hope. Addressing separation anxiety is not a quick process and has taken a lot of work, but we are seeing results we didn’t think were possible. We’re so grateful we decided to invest in this journey and would highly recommend Elly to anyone struggling with separation anxiety with their dog.
