I had the opportunity to complete the Decoy Development Course at Akela. It’s been one of the best experiences so far, learning the fundamentals & theory of developing a dog & decoying. From puppies to adult dogs! Learning about environment & physical pressure, & drive channeling. Scott is definitely one of the top trainers/decoys in the Midwest, & I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get into protection sports or just trying to hone their skills. Scott’s 5 day decoy course changed my life. I’ve been to several decoy seminars, some better than others. But this one was by far my favorite to participate in. Not only is the atmosphere welcoming and inviting, but the reps and practice with their dogs is irreplaceable. Scott does a phenomenal job structuring his course for the benefit of the student, not only in regard to safety but also for successful learning progression for each student as an individual. Goals and growing opportunities are discussed daily, every session, every dog, to acknowledge progress and ensure progression is made in the right direction. I learned so many things this week, including things about myself and how hard I can push to be better. I’m very grateful for this course & will definitely be back. Highly recommend to anybody looking to grow as a decoy.

I just completed Akela K9’s Decoy Development Course and it was more than worth it! With years of experience, Scott is a phenomenal decoy and even better teacher. His ability to break topics into digestible information, is spectacular. The classroom knowledge and hands on application I gained has catapulted me forward and built my confidence in ways I never imagined.
