My husband actually wanted to try our border collie out on sheep. So we made an appointment and showed up a bit early, as advised to, according to the woman on the phone. We watched a blonde woman working with a border collie, the border collie, apparently did something wrong with the sheep, and in her attempt to train the dog she called it to her, and when the dog came to her, she scolded it. (don’t do that training one oh1 never punish a dog for coming to you when you call him.) then when it was our dogs turn he didn’t really know what he was doing and he kind of ran around like he thought he was supposed to and then he got a little zealous and nipped the sheep and saw the blonde woman bopped him with an empty water bottle to discourage that behavior. That confused him, and then, when he was running too fast, she hit them again, and he lost all respect for her in my opinion the owner of the facility claimed that my dog was afraid of sheep, which was completely ridiculous. I know my dog, he was not afraid he lost respect for the woman and wanted nothing to do with her. The owner of the facility said we should bring our dog back and he can just run around with the sheep, to lose his fear which, honestly I felt was a scam, also, I noticed the hay they had out for the sheep was moldy. A very bad experience, I felt like these people are con artists. There might be nice trainers there, but I didn’t see any so I can only speak to my own experience; by the way, I professionally trained my first dog when I was 13 I’ve also trained horses , this is not my first rodeo just my first experience with sheep other than 4H I just had to share . I really don’t like to badmouth a business That’s working hard for a living, but I honestly do not think that’s what I encountered there.
