Above the Standard Dog Training

Back in December of 2023, my 4 month old puppy, Arlo, took a trip from NJ to FL to get trained by Jim, Emily, and the rest of the amazing team at Above The Standard Dog. Before them, Arlo would bite ALL the time, had no recall, no place command, tugging always, and honestly just lacked structure since we were first time dog owners. Since then, we have been able to actually enjoy our pup, continue his training at home, and get to take him places! Jim and Emily are great at communicating with you throughout your dogs stay and sending/posting videos with any and all updates! We still talk months later if I need any advise with training. I would send Arlo back just so he can play, enjoy there company and land, and get refreshers/more training if and when needed. 10 out of 10 recommend to anyone with a dog! ♥️

I will start by saying can’t recommend these trainers enough!! I was actually recommended by family that had recently sent their dog for training that had great success. So, I sent my 11 month old working line shepherd for a 4 week board and train program. He was having major behavioral issues that were getting out of control. I spoke with Emily over the phone and she not only reassured me that they could accomplish this in 3-4 weeks, but she went so far as to get my dog in within days!! Not to mention she drove 3 hours to come get him! I was updated pretty much daily on his progress and what they were working on in addition to allllll the photos and videos! One major example I will use is that my dog was having severe leash reactivity towards other dogs.. barking, lunging, choking himself, pulling.. the whole 9 yards. I wasn’t able to take him on walks because of how he would behave.. but let me tell you, in a matter of 4 weeks, Jay had my dog walking in a perfect heel and basically ignoring any dog that was in his presence. I was speechless!! This was just one of the many many things they were able to do for us. My dog also was not a fan of being groomed and they were able to groom him with no issues or reactivity! This group of trainers are so dedicated to what they do and are the best! Jay was so kind to drive my dog 3 hours back to my home to work with us because he wanted to make sure I could be as confident as possible with the new training tools. I could go on forever about my great experience with them! They are amazingly wonderful people and if you are looking for a reputable training program, this is the place to go!
