Alex has been patient, professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated. He doesn’t just train but takes the time to teach you as the owner, too. He explains the reasons behind the training, shows you how to communicate better with your dog, and gives you the tools and confidence to continue working on everything at home. I’ve seen such a positive difference in Coco, and the experience has been absolutely worth it. I feel much more confident knowing how to handle different situations. I would definitely recommend Alex and 5 Star Dog Academy to anyone looking for a dog trainer.

alex has been such a great trainer for my dog! he’s patient, knowledgeable, and you can genuinely tell that he cares about the dogs he works with. i’ve noticed such a positive difference in my dog since starting training with him. i also love that he offers boarding because it makes me feel so much more comfortable leaving my dog with someone i already trust rather than at the vet. knowing he’ll be with someone who knows him and understands his needs gives me so much peace of mind. i definitely recommend alex to anyone looking for a great trainer! 🐾❤️

I first got in touch with Alex after frantically messaging literally -probably 20 dog trainers after feeling completely overwhelmed and defeated one night after unknowingly adopting a dog-reactive blue heeler mix, “Nelson” from the animal foundation. Alex called shortly after receiving my message and spent 15 minutes on the phone with me, heard out my concerns, scheduled our first session a few days later and even told me I could reach out before that if things got crazy. At our first session I told him my main goal was manners and obedience but more specifically being able to have my original dog, Charlie and my new rescue coexist. It was a slow process of consistently practicing the training and obedience he taught us and building on it every week. Alex’s approach to training is always creating a positive experience for the dog, and setting them up to succeed. He educated me on training tools like an e collar and prong collar as well as how to correct my dog and to always leave things on positive note. After about a month of patience, consistent progress and Nelson showing me the signs he (we) were ready, I felt confident in finally having the dogs officially interact and be in the same space. We took the leap and it went better than I could have hoped. Now that my dogs are pals, we’ve moved on to training Nelson outside of the house and practicing and all the same things in public environments. I’m extremely thankful to have had Alex empowering us to have the confidence we needed on this journey. He’s extremely down to earth and makes all the training very relatable to everyday life and relationships. I truly can’t say enough good things about him as a person and his approach to all things dog training. I would recommend him & his business in a heartbeat to anyone interested in any aspect of dog training. Thank you soo much Alex!!!
