Zoom Room Dog Training

I hardly ever leave reviews for places- I try to not take things personally -but I am so disappointed and upset by my recent experience here. I signed up our puppy the morning of for an 11 am pre-school class. We live at least 45 minutes away in North Carolina, but we really liked this facility and were pleased with the other reviews, so we had previously paid for the 5 class package. Our first pre-school class was great; loved the experience and the people. Unfortunately I ended up running late this morning because our 9 week old puppy had an accident in his travel crate. (I always let him out before we get in the car to go potty, but puppies at this age can’t hold their bladders and accidents happen.) I pulled over to try and clean him up, until I realized I was going to be late for our class so I figured I’d dry him off and we’d try to sort it out at the facility. We walk in at 11:06, me holding him wrapped in a towel, and the woman at the desk is speaking to someone on the phone. As soon as she’s off I apologize for being late and explain my puppy had an accident in his crate on the way here. She says they have a 5 minute late policy, although they’d let me use the class for another day. I’m standing there in the lobby, covered in pee, my puppy covered in pee, and she asks if she can re-schedule my next class. I’m kind of gobsmacked, trying to figure out what to do, and she asks again if she can schedule me for our next class. Still speechless, she then offers the bathroom sink for me to clean up in. I got to do the walk of shame through the class that just started that we were now missing, although I guess this was better than just being booted back outside so I washed his paws up in the sink. As I’m trying to rush back outside, she chuckles and goes “Aww..” while I’m still holding my drenched puppy and offers again to schedule my next class. I mean, come on, some awareness please! I’m flustered and embarrassed and covered in pee, which was a situation I was willing to deal with for the 45 minute drive and my boy’s class, but now I just want to leave! I then spent the next 30 minutes in the parking lot trying to clean out the pee covered crate and car, while trying to stop him from eating cigarette butts and bottle caps off the ground. Some of these things are bad luck and circumstance, but I was a little struck by the lack of help and understanding in a situation that I think many dog and puppy owners could sympathize with. I wish we hadn’t had to pay for a group of classes because I would not be making the trip up here anymore otherwise. At the very least, we will seek out another facility when our classes here are up.

The Zoom Room is a dog and people friendly place. Colleen has been absolutely wonderful between classes and informative conversations! Everyone I have met there (employees and other customers) have been great. I think the group puppy classes are good for dog parents who want to socialize their dog while learning new tips and tricks. We look forward to obedience training and agility classes. I do wish that the schedule would show who is teaching what classes when looking at it from a phone; it only shows names while booking on a computer.
