Zoom Room Dog Training

I was impressed at our orientation and remain so today. My pup is skittish of strangers (people and dogs). She cannot calm down or feel comfortable even sitting at a beer garden, even if we sit further away on the grass - feels the need to bark at everyone (tail between the legs, defensive stance). She loves all children, but the taller the human or dog, the more scared she is. The staff could not be more accommodating. They started by just giving her treats and not looking her in the eye. What do you know, just a few visits later and she is starting to accept all of the staff. I love how the facility/classes have a no interaction policy between the dogs as it allows for me and my pup to focus on building trust between us and confidence in her. Agility has been wonderful for her mental health and confidence building. I know this because she has gone from practicing with her tail between her legs to wagging her tail; she can even do it off leash and still focuses on my commands. Pup-laties has been nice for getting her to focus on me while other dogs are in the same gym (at their own station). This allows for her to smell various new people/dogs but remain focused on the task at hand. Better yet, new dogs are at each class, so it's not like daycare where she only sees the same dogs in her size category. My favorite part of all of this is that the improvements I see are not just in my head. Friends have commented about how much more calm and happy she seems. My pup, Stella, is 2.5 years old, but don't fret if your pup is older as we had a 14 year old in our recent agility class :) I wish I started here sooner.

Didn’t realize how much fun the agility classes at the Zoom Room would be. In the agility classes you’re given the opportunity to learn new skills but without the pressure of getting it right away and progressing at your own speed. The style of training is completely positive reward based and focusing on building a good relationship between you and your dog. I feel it's a new way of communicating with my dog as well as making me a better leader. Niki is a dedicated, supportive & knowledgeable trainer without being critical. She always makes me feel welcome no matter my ability level (or how silly my dog choses to be).
