Hi Linda, We appreciate your feedback! Evaluations are an important part of making sure our environment is a good fit for every dog’s personality, comfort level, and learning style. They give us a chance to observe how a dog responds to a new space, new people, and new stimuli so we can set them up for success. When we met your pup, we saw that he was excited, curious, and still adjusting to everything around him — which is completely normal for many dogs during a first visit. However, when a dog is in that heightened state of excitement, it can be difficult for them to focus or be motivated by treats or toys, and that affects how well they’re able to learn or participate in group activities. Our recommendation for a couple of private gym sessions wasn’t meant to discourage you, but rather to support him. These sessions give dogs a low-pressure opportunity to explore the environment, burn off some initial excitement, and start to feel safe and confident in the space. Once a dog is familiar with the surroundings and able to settle more easily, they’re far better positioned to benefit from training and to engage positively with our group classes. Our goal is always to ensure every dog has the right foundation to succeed, and sometimes that simply starts with giving them more time to get comfortable. We would love to welcome you both back whenever you’re ready, and we genuinely believe the private gym sessions will help him feel more settled and focused in the space. If you decide to move forward, we’re here to support you every step of the way and look forward to seeing him grow more comfortable and confident with each visit.
