Zoom Room

I rarely make negative reviews, but I feel this needs to be shared. Our son wanted to try training our dog for agility. He is 11 years old, and we asked the owner if it was possible for him(our son) to train our dog. We were told that was fine. We were also instructed that our dog needed to begin his training in a beginning obedience class, and earn badges before he could advance to agility fundamentals. That is fine. Over an email we were told there are different session packages and we could start with the 10 class pack and add more if needed. which is fine. When we arrived for our first class, we were told we needed and suggested to buy the 30 pack class, which would be more reasonable because he needed to get the badges first before he could move on. We were also told that my son could NOT handle the dog on the floor without me or my husband holding the leash during obedience classes. My son and the dog could NOT be on the floor alone during agility training . Again, confusing for the dog who is having a hard time determining who to listen to. Every Saturday we make the 100 mile round trip (we paid a lot of money for this and was very committed to making this happen for our son) Only to spend 3 MINUTES on the floor at a time. So being there for 1 hour, 4 dogs in the class, 3 minute sessions on the floor, gave us a TOTAL 12 minutes of training per visit. That is a lot of money spent for so called dog training and get 12 minutes of training. We continued this for 18 sessions, and felt rushed and very little advancement. On top of that, the obedience class was basically a tricks class, were he learned basic commands, not obedience. We were told to learn healing, come when called and so on was another advanced obedience class we could sign up for. We notified the owner that we were not satisfied with the structure, and he suggested we should come back, and they would cut the sessions down to 2 minutes. WHAT? Are you kidding? Our dog was not focused at all, and we spent at least 1 minute trying to get him to focus on us which was already a challenge. And of course we are not getting a refund. I will say the good thing about zoom is you can change up your classes and do other training sessions for other activities. But this is not a true training facility. It is just disappointing to not get the guidance we were hoping for.

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but Zoom Room proved that wrong! We wanted to get our 14 year old pup some extra training, activity and mental stimulation. He has loved his classes at Zoom Room with all the trainers. We love the flexibility of the packages and the online scheduling. He has come a long way on his recall, leash walking and barking and has a fun time every night he gets to come see his friends at ZR.
