You and Your Dog

We boarded our dog Twilight here for 9 days while we were on vacation and it was amazing! Scheduling was easy, drop off was easy and quick. The staff were nice and welcoming to Twilight giving him lot of attention. I was sent photo and updates. They even did training with him and he came home with a new skill! I was pleasantly surprised when I went to pick him up and they had given him a bath. Twilight seemed calm and content the whole time. Worth every penny. Will be using them again in the future!

I was quite unimpressed. I did only have 1 training session with Otto Sturm but I didn’t continue for several reasons. His training method is very traditional, which is much harsher than current balanced methods used today. In one session, he got my dog to stop reacting to his dog or other dogs on leash with sternness and quick pops, which doesn’t work on my sensitive dog. Sure, it worked momentarily but it isn’t a long term solution to her fear towards dogs. I asked what he would do with a dog afraid of fireworks. His response was that he would put the dog in that environment right away and let them sit there and watch while trying to feed treats. That is called flooding. This would make my dog shut down. I’d say if you have a confident dog that isn’t sensitive towards stern training, he may be helpful - however not good for fearful dogs. Otto was also very inconsistent in touching base with me. He seems more interested in expanding his business than really truly training and working with the dog and handler. I believe my review was deleted, and they claim there are no male trainers which isn’t true as there are other reviews who mention Otto. I hope this gets to some people before it possibly gets deleted again.

I just recently adopted a very wild young dog! I have been taking him to You and Your Dog and it has changed his entire life for the better! He went from not knowing any basic commands and has learned sit, down, stay, and place! He absolutely loves coming to school, he wiggles and wags his tail as soon as we get off the freeway exit! Without You and Your Dog’s guidance I’d be lost! It teaches him brain stimulation and he does so much fun activities there! We are so grateful!
