It’s fantastic to find a dog training business that doesn’t just center their training around young obedient purebred dogs. Our dog Ruger was an older rescue who came to us with both physical and psychological scars from his past. Ruger is a defiant mix of dog breeds that a lot of other trainers and dog training locations saw and refused to work with. Ruger is anxious, hyper alert, and reactive but Carlos never saw these as flaws instead using them as tools to train Ruger. Before woof beach Ruger couldn’t go two blocks in the car, was unable to be bathed or have his nails trimmed and had to be walked early mornings or late night to avoid seeing other dogs. Going through both the basic and the advanced program we never felt like Ruger was on a set timeline or that they just wanted to rush him through. Even though Ruger has been out of the program for awhile now we still take him back for weekly lessons, which are all included under the training program. Carlos takes the time each week to work with us and sends us home with homework and things to practice each week. Carlos is so patient with Ruger - You would think that because Ruger is a tricky dog to work with her would get sick of him, but each day Carlos greats Ruger with a genuine kindness that only a true dog lover and talented trainer could possess. I cannot say enough good things about Carlos, Austin, Tyler and David from Woof beach they’ve impacted Ruger’s well being and our sanity as dog owners immensely. Katelyn the groomer is also fantastic at what she does. She spends so much time with Ruger making him feel comfortable with his baths and nail trims. Taking on a dog that can react out of fear is a lot of work and she never once hesitated. She goes out of her way to visit with him even when he’s just in for the day. We loved Woof beach so much when we rescued a puppy we immediately placed her in the program. We get stopped everywhere we go with people asking us how we trained her so well and how we have such an obedient young puppy. We couldn’t appreciate this place more.

We decided to use Woof Beach for the basic training for our two year old lab. We couldn’t be happier with the progress after the first week! After Carlos felt it was time that our dog had learned enough he brought both me and wife to learn the commands. He was very patient and took his time with us each session, making sure we understood everything our dog learned the last few weeks. He’s been out of the training sessions now for nearly two months and we couldn’t be happier. Our dog now goes to their structured day care twice a week to freshen up on his skills and best of all there’s a dog groomer there too! Overall, we couldn’t be happier with Woof Beach and we would recommend them to anyone and their pup!

Let me just start by saying this place is fantastic! It was a great experience all around. My wife and I got Max, who is a Mini-Goldendoodle in January and with both of us working every day, we were very nervous about how we would get Max trained and taken care of. I went into the Glen Ellyn location at the time (as Wheaton was not yet open) and met Carlos, who mentioned that the Wheaton location would be opening soon. He even offered to do some "Puppy" classes for Max in the meantime before had all of his shots, as you have to be 16 Weeks and fully vaccinated to start. From day 1, Max LOVED woofbeach. Both Tyler and Carlos were great with Max and provided daily feedback on his progress. While the dogs are in training from day to day, their advice is to simply love on the dogs at home, as they don’t want you to try and give commands before the dogs truly understand what they mean. Once they began the "Human Classes”, as my wife and I call them, we instantly saw Carlos and Tyler’s passion for what they were doing and love for Max. From the day we learned the commands and how to say them, Max has been a very well-trained trained dog. As we continue to work with him, he gets better and better. We still have classes for us moving forward, to continue to 'perfect' our skills. Still, when we ask Max if he wants to go to "Woofbeach" he runs to the backdoor and hops right in the car. On top of all of that, which would be enough, Kaitlyn and Stephanie in the grooming area have not only made Max look and smell great, but also offered useful input on how to keep him groomed, as we are on our first pup and just don't really know a lot of that. I want to also say this, as I know that some people get weirded out...they do use what are commonly know as “pinch” or “prong” collars during the training. I love our dog as a member of the family and would never imagine hurting him. That being said, some people utilize these types of collars as a negative training device. Woofbeach absolutely does not! From the day they showed us the collar, I never once saw more than a simple flick of the wrist as a “correction” to train and never as a punishment. Some might argue, well you didn’t see them all the time with the dogs...my reply would be that when we have max home and do the same very small flick of the wrist, he responds perfectly to it and now barely needs correction at all! So I will hop off my soapbox there, but I would just hate for someone to judge Woofbeach based on their knowledge of uneducated prong-collar users. So with all of that said, Woofbeach provides great training and a wonderful environment for your pup to learn! I would go back in a heartbeat and will continue to use their grooming services.
