If you want to train your dog in a humane way that forms a positive relationship with your dog and works in the long-term, Wolfman Canine’s is 1000% your best option. I came to Walter because my 100 pound boxer/American bully rescue had been struggling with extreme dog reactivity for years after a scary experience at the dog park. Anytime we saw another dog, he completely lost it, and it was almost impossible to not cause a scene and regain his attention. I tried everything to train him myself, but nothing was working. At the time I began training, I was planning on moving from the Columbus area to Chicago, and I really didn’t think it would be possible with my dog’s reactivity. Thanks to Walter and our one-on-one training sessions, my dog is now able to bring his attention back to me anytime we see a dog. Before starting training, I didn’t think it would ever be possible for my dog to coexist around other dogs, but because of Walter’s help, we spent our last 3 training sessions walking my dog side by side with another dog, and my dog even wanted to play with the other dog, something I never thought was possible. During my search for a dog trainer in Columbus, it seemed like every option involved shock/choke collars or fear-based training. I never wanted to put my dog through that type of training, as it doesn’t work in the long-run like the positive reinforcement training at Wolfman’s Canine’s, and is obviously cruel to do to our dogs who we love so much. Positive reinforcement training has not only been successful, but I’ve also formed a stronger bond with my dog because of it. Not only are Walter’s training methods ideal and effective, but Walter is a wonderful person, and I could not have asked for a better dog trainer. Walter is not only extremely skilled at what he does, but he is a kind person and amazing to work with. Anytime I had any question related to my dog or our training, he was always willing to take the time to help. I highly highly recommend Wolfman Canine’s!!

TL;DR: Take your dog to Wolfman's Canines!! Walter and Hanna are two of the most kind, dedicated, and knowledgeable humans you could meet. My bernese mountain dog, Winnie (1.5 years, F), completed a 4-week board and train at Wolfman's Canines, and she is SO excited to show off her skills! She heels attentively on walks, can ignore new dogs and people when they pass by, and demonstrates an overall calmer, more connected demeanor. It was critically important to me that Winnie learn in a non-aversive environment, and Walter expertly provided the clarity, support, and encouragement for her to grow with confidence. Wolfman's Canines is an excellent place for puppy or dog training in central Ohio!

Quick Take: Take your puppy or dog here for training or boarding!!! Walter and Hannah are fantastic people. I gained valuable experience as together; Walter, my dog and I worked through a six session in person with dog training plan. Full Review: We were on a search for a trainer to help us improve leash manners and recall for a very energetic and independent thinking Aussie mix rescue, named Daisy. As a rescue we were fortunate her foster worked on crate training and potty training came easily- we had taken a puppy class elsewhere and some basics like sit, ect also were quick to come. ..but recall and paying attention to us on a walk - they were a challenge.... When I asked the instructor from the puppy class (at a local chain store) what we could do...he suggested that he could be contacted for alternatives... not liking that answer - I reached out to another local independent dog trainer. This second instructor indicated that often more "aggressive" means; including a prong collar and an E collar can both be good solutions...to deal with "stubborn" dogs.... Those suggestions did not sit well with us - how could those approaches help an already strong willed dog? Is fear and or pain necessary? Wouldn't those approaches make it even worse, we thought?... So I searched for a solution without those approaches.. and we found Wolfman's canines. Thank you Google!!! After 6 classes; walks are so much better and enjoyable and recall is noticeably improved. Walter meets the dogs where they are and understands their needs and nature - instead of a prong to the neck or a zap - the improvements with Daisy (and with me) were made with small consistent steps to improve the dog's attentiveness and obedience without breaking the dogs spirit or the use of more aggressive solutions. Most importantly Walter helped me to better understand my dog's mind and needs and he has taught me how to be a better owner. I wish I would have come to Walter sooner...the way he explains the process makes so much sense.
