I’ve been working with Dawn since August 2022 for gluten detection training, and she is truly one of a kind. She’s confident, knowledgeable, and is there to guide me when I’m not sure of myself. She’s not just a trainer- she becomes a sounding board and friend. Dawn is always honest and has you and your dog’s best interest at heart. We started by training my first dog, and when I was ready for a second, Dawn helped me through the entire process of finding the perfect prospect. Having a gluten detection dog has been a complete blessing, and I absolutely couldn’t have done it without her. Highly recommend!

After false starts in other gluten detection training programs, I feel so lucky to have been connected with Dawn. She's seen it all when comes to service dogs and gluten detection task training. I love that the program is structured with benchmarks to meet before moving on and Dawn provides an immense amount of guidance and troubleshooting support along the way. I get very sick from gluten and have been limiting what I eat to primarily things I prepare myself for many years. Tillie isn't fully trained yet but has already made it easier for me to travel and enjoy social events by widening my food options.

I have loved working with Dawn. I started in Dawn's program with my standard poodle Inge in February of 2024. Dawn helped me select a puppy for the program and even drove out of her way to test the entire litter so that I would chose the puppy that fit the program best. I have been working through this program while in veterinary school which has made timing and scheduling hard. Dawn has worked around my chaotic schedule and has helped support Inge and myself as we work our way through. I can also say as a person working in and around animals that Dawn has a phenomenal understanding of canine behavior and has helped me become a better veterinarian who understands her patients more. I will add that the program is difficult and Dawn will challenge you and your puppy; but without this challenge I don't think Inge would be as successful. I also appreciate that Dawn can be direct and honest with me when I am doing something wrong or something that could hurt my dog's training. Dawn is fantastic at adapting to the learning style that fits each individual best. Lastly, I wanted to add that Dawn has let me add two of my other dogs to her program as backups no questions asked. I don't know of any other program or trainer that would be this supportive. If you have celiac disease (or another scent based condition) you can't go wrong with Willow Service Dogs and Dawn.
