Wild West Bird Dogs

I just brought home my 18 month old setter from spending 9 weeks with Bobby. When I dropped her off she ran in the field nicely, but she wasn't hunting. After she was thee a week Bobby, which we now laugh about, said to me, "I've never seen a dog hunt so hard in the wrong places before." I can confidently say that when I picked her up, she was a bonafide birddog! Not only was she hunting well, she was backing other dogs beaytifully. Let me rewind before i get too far ahead. Bobby was the third dog trainer I have used in my relatively short life with birddogs. The first two were with a different dog, but that does not detract from the comparisons. The other two kennels/facilities, I felt that my dog was just a paycheck in a kennel. The trainers ran thorugh the motions, but never problem solved. They simply ran their milk route. Bobby was the first to treat my dog different from the dog he had out of the kennel before or after her. He identified her....quirks...which were unique to her. he understood that he had to solce for the front end (hunting birds) before he could work on the other issues such as backing and steadiness. One last thing: The day I picked my setter up from Bobby, he spend nearly three hours with me tourign the facilty, going over what they worked on and how far along we had progressed. And finally, we worked on the drills he wanted me work on to reinforce her whoa trainiing and her natural retreive. I cannot recommend him enough.

So happy and thankful we found Kayla and Bobby!!! Bobby and Kayla stayed with our 3 dogs (senior GSP, puppy Boykin Spaniel, and 3 year old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon) for a super last minute flight back for a family emergency. Talk about minimizing the stress we were facing. Kayla and Bobby kept us up to date on our dogs with pictures and videos working with our pups and even got them on some birds! We felt at peace knowing our dogs were not only being looked after, but getting worked on and were with some other fantastic bird dogs while we were away. It was so relieving to know our dogs were in great hands while we were away. I had the privilege to meet this lovely couple after I got to hunt behind some of Kayla and Bobby’s amazing pups for my very first Women and Wings event earlier this spring and got to see some extremely well managed, well mannered, hard working bird dogs at work!!! Their dogs put in the work and got us ladies on a bunch of birds! Great dogs, great people, and an even better time! I immediately booked them again for 4th of July weekend! So great to see a hard working, local young couple putting in the work, raising great dogs, and passionate about helping other crazy bird dog folk in our local community on the western slope!!!

Wild West Bird Dogs is an outstanding place to send/take your dog(s) for training and boarding. I have had the pleasure of working with Bobby and Kayla regularly over the past year and the progress they have made with my hunting dog is second to none! At 14 months, my pup achieved a Prize One 112 score at his NAVHDA natural ability test. This would not have happened without Wild West Bird Dogs. Bobby dedicated tons of time and energy to this process and I have been so impressed with the results I have seen, that I purchased a second dog that is currently enrolled in the Wild West Bird Dog program. There is zero comparison to the level of training that WWBD has been able to accomplish with my dogs. Beyond training, the availability of a boarding service is priceless. Not only do I feel 100% confident that my dogs are being taken care of, they are also receiving daily training and plenty of exercise. It is very apparent that Bobby and Kayla truly enjoy working with dogs and producing tangible results. I would highly recommend Wild West Bird Dogs to any interested party. You cannot go wrong choosing this facility for a multitude of reasons.
