Westinn Kennels - K9 Bed n' Breakfast

I have two Rescue Newfoundlands that come here for day boarding once a week. It is hard to find a place that will accept large dogs and all their quirks, but especially a kennel that is experienced with balanced and fear free training and dogs that have behavioral problems. The Westinn team worked with me so that I was comfortable leaving my stranger danger people selective Newfoundland. He has typically only been boarded once a year, and so I was very nervous. The Westinn team goes above and beyond to make sure he and his handlers feel safe. With my other Newfoundland, we take advantage of their day training to provide additional work on behaviors, like jumping while greeting people, pulling on the leash. He has also shown some dog reactivity which seems to be better since the extra training. He had gone through a puppy class at Westinn before, we just need to proof his knowledge. If there is a concern, the team at Westinn is very communicative and the photos that I get from their Report Card just validates that the boys love their time there.

I took my golden retriever, ryker to this place a couple years ago during Thanksgiving while I went to texas with my family. When he was dropped off, he was happy, eating, and his old energetic self. When I came back and picked him up, he didn't eat. he would lay down all day. When I came home. he would usually be super happy to see me, but he wouldn't even get up anymore. I set his favorite food, even pup cups in front of him and he wouldn't eat. he was NOT himself after we got him back. he was only 6 and had NOTHING wrong with him. he was also just taken to the vet before dropping him off. we soon after had to put him down due to this. Nothing was ever wrong until he went here.

Where do I start about our dog trainer, Keara. Keara is an excellent dog trainer—professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our golden retriever puppy, now almost 7 months old and already almost 60 pounds, has gone through puppy class, obedience training, and one-on-one sessions with her, and I truly believe he would have been impossible to handle without her help. She is now working with me to bring my skill and confidence up to my puppy’s level. During our private sessions, she helped me recognize what I was doing incorrectly in a way that was constructive—never critical or condescending. It’s clear that she genuinely wants both you and your puppy to succeed. And maybe the best endorsement of all-my puppy absolutely loves her! If you’re thinking about training your puppy or dog, I cannot recommend her enough. You will not be disappointed!
