West Michigan K9

My golden doodle is about 2 1/2 years old. Her level of energy and excitability was difficult to handle after moving to a city setting from a rural one. Walking on the leash, barking at neighborhood children playing outside, and obeying her basic commands were real problems. My husband and I plan to travel with our dog, so I enrolled her in the Stay and Train program at West Michigan K9 for 4 weeks . The trainer was very good at listening to my concerns and focusing on the issues that were problems. Once training began, I received a report and video of my dog’s progress 3 times a week. It was so rewarding seeing her progress. I was able to communicate with them via text or phone about any questions or concerns. At the end of the training, I had my first follow up and spent an hour there learning the commands and working with the trainer. It was amazing to see my dog so focused and in control of her behavior. The trainer was patient and made sure I understood everything, answering all my questions. It is important to realize, it is up to me to follow through on daily reinforcement of the training, which I do with confidence. I walk my dog on the leash daily and go through the commands once or twice a day indoors and out. If I had to place a number on the degree of improvement it would be a 8/10 with 10 being perfect and her starting point a 3. I can walk her on the training collar without any issues. Kids on bikes, squirrels running on the sidewalk, and people walking by with their dogs no longer causes my dog to lose it. The more I walk with her and give her positive reinforcement or the needed correction sound, she is focusing on me and the walk. This is pure joy for me. The basic commands are rock solid, too, I am still working on greeting people who come to the door and the “bark feast “ at the fence with the neighbor dogs. These issues are improving and I received helpful instructions at my recent second follow up with the trainer yesterday. The investment of money and time is so worth it since it will last a lifetime for my dog. So, it’s a big “YES “ I would recommend West Michigan K9 for training your dog.
