Walking Dog Training

Bethany is incredible at what she does. She truly is "the dog whisperer." We left our 6 month old Dogo Argentino, Gin, with her for a two week board and train. Gin had issues with reactivity while on walks, to people, to other dogs, had a very hard time traveling in the car, whined a lot, and wouldn't let us touch her nails. In only two weeks, she has completely transformed into the most calm and easygoing puppy. I can't imagine what our lives would have been like if we hadn't taken her to Bethany and she continued to grow into an 80lb dog. Regardless of what your puppy or dog is dealing with, Bethany will figure it out, correct it, and make sure you have the training and tools you need for continued success. She also posts the most amazing photos and stories on Instagram while she has your dog, so you can check in every day of the two weeks, and she's fabulous with communication. Bethany is an amazing dog trainer, and I am so thankful for the board and train experience! My dog Ollie is a 1.5 year old rescue doxie/terrier mix who had no previous training prior to adoption. Before the board and train, Ollie had gone to a positive reinforcement only trainer. Even with this training Ollie had difficulty with resource guarding, he was very fearful of children which led to aggressive behavior, difficulty walking on a leash, destructive behavior in the house, he was not crate trained, the list goes on and on. When I reached out to Bethany, I was at a total loss on how to help/train Ollie. Since our first phone call she met me with such compassion, listened to my endless concerns and began providing useful training ideas even before beginning the program. We were able to follow Ollie’s entire board and train program through Bethany’s Instagram! This made the 2 weeks without him much easier while providing us with helpful information that could be used after bringing Ollie home. We loved the midway and go home session where Bethany taught us all about the ecollar and answered our endless questions! Since the training, Ollie has evolved into a calm well-mannered dog who is a dream to walk on the leash! What really makes Bethany stand out is she is a constant resource, and she has been there to answer all my questions and offer training tips both before/during/and after the program! I would recommend Bethany to anyone who is looking for a dog trainer and plan to have my next dog train with her as well 😊

Bethany did a fantastic job with my Nancy Bean. When I first got my dog, she was all over the place, making walks almost unbearable. After training with Bethany, walks are now enjoyable and her reactivity has decreased. The best part is that even when the 2 week training is over, Bethany is still actively involved, she is always answering any questions that I have. I highly recommend Walking Dog Training!

This training program is amazing! Bethany is amazing! To start, my dog Mia is an energetic, 3 yr old Shepard mix that was never trained on the leash when I rescued her. Now it’s like I have a new dog! Before Mia was reactive to any and all distractions and was a super aggressive puller. Bethany took her in and treated her as if she was training one of her own dogs! Our walks are much more enjoyable and now Mia is better accustomed to walk in close quarters to people and other animals or distractions. Also, the training has made me much more confident in taking her places as I am an active person and she stays focused to me now and not others. My favorite part were the constant updates on Instagram so I could check in and kind of be apart of her training even though I wasn’t there for the 2 week process. I really appreciated Bethany’s approach as she works with your dogs at her house, so it’s a comfortable environment and she only trains 2 dogs at a time, so your dog gets a lot of attention! She also will work on any specific things you may need help with, just have to tell her your goals and what you want out of it. Bethany includes the halfway meet up through the training, which I found super helpful as well as at the pick up, we did a training session together making me feel confident about taking Mia home! If you’re hesitant about using an E collar, I was as well, but Bethany will help teach you proper ways to use it. Also the best part, this training helped correct so many things with Mia, but she still has the same loving and energetic personality. Walking Dog Training program was the best choice for Mia! I would do it again and you should try it!

After getting to know Bethany through my daughter and seeing the major improvements that my daughter’s dog made during her Walking Dog board and train, I knew that Bethany would be my go-to trainer if I were ever to need help with my own dogs. Sure enough, a few months after first meeting Bethany, my husband and I realized that the puppy we had adopted some 6 months earlier was turning into quite the sassy girl. At that point, our almost 9-month-old Husky mix Milla was regularly growling, snapping, and near biting when she would anticipate that she was going to be forced to do something that she didn’t want to do (for example, while getting paws cleaned, if bothered while she was resting, if approached while she was in her crate, resource guarding, etc.). Ultimately, we decided to have Milla spend a few weeks with Bethany.  During the board and train time, Bethany does an amazing job keeping owners informed regarding progress, sending and posting pictures and videos to us and on social media. It was evident through our communications that Bethany was really prioritizing our specific goals for Milla (which included being more polite, less growling, better obedience, specifically recall). Because of Milla’s situation-specific attitude and her unwillingness to give Bethany much pushback, addressing Milla’s reactivity posed a unique challenge. Nevertheless, Bethany did an amazing job teaching Milla to be more obedient in times when she wouldn’t have been in the past, and the fact that Milla wouldn’t give attitude to Bethany really emphasized how high levels of structure benefit Milla. By the time we brought Milla back home, her recall had significantly improved, she learned to politely tolerate her paws being handled, her growling/snappiness was reduced by, perhaps, 75%, and now she’s even learning to play a friendly game of dog-toy keep away with our other dogs (as opposed to aggressive guarding). Now that Milla is back and feeling comfortable at home, her sassiness sneaks up at times, but we know that this is just a reflection of the training process in general - it starts with the board and train, but must must must continue at home. Bethany couldn’t have done a better job improving Milla’s obedience and setting us all up for success as we continue the training at home. Working with Bethany has been such a pleasure and a blessing for our whole family and that’s dogs included - even though Milla was with Bethany for training we were able to see that she was so well taken care of and had a blast being there as well! Bethany’s professionalism, knowledge, creativity, and dependability is outstanding. She continues to reach out asking for updates on Milla and always makes herself available for follow-up questions and advice. Bethany makes it so clear that she wants the best for each of her human and dog clients and will be there long after the board and train to make sure that they can achieve and maintain success.
