I have had pointing dogs for years being an avid grouse/woodcock hunter. I decided to commit to a versatile breed, due to research on German dogs and their testing system. I am now pursuing to have my Deutsch Kurzhaar pup tested in the German testing system. I sought out Joe, due to his impeccable reputation with training and testing in the German testing system. My experience was above my expectations, he is professional, well versed in all aspects of the capabilities of the German testing system and dogs. I experienced a one on one visit and he helped me and my dog, immensely, I walked away with a clear understanding of the requirements and confidence. Great day @ Vom Seymour Kennel! we scheduled in person training with Joe and he did not disappoint. My 3 month old Drahthaar and I learned a lot today. Joe took time to find out what we have been doing and help us tweak those things to improve results. We did table, field, water and obstacle work. Then he took the time to go over future training to prepare us for the next few steps. Demonstrated techniques with other dogs he is working with and his own. When my 12 year old son surprised me and decided to give up baseball, I knew I only had one choice. I had to get back into hunting and introduce him to the sport I put on hold 10 years ago. The only problem… my 5 month old Vizsla (June) needed a turn around from not only a family pet walking the neighborhood, but she needed to become my hunting companion. She had never been exposed to birds. I found Joe online and started watching his YouTube videos. He trained with the legend Rick Smith. After speaking with him I knew he was the man. I dropped my dog off with Joe for 2 weeks. Best decision I ever made. He introduced her to Birds and pulled out her hunting instincts. He gave me advice as we trained her in the fields. I bought into his system. June and I are heading back to Joe’s place in a few weeks to spend a day training. Joe has a gift. Do yourself a favor, start early, and contact him. I came to Joe to get myself trained. Gem is 3 mos old, my 2nd self trained DD. My first D was successful but it was a lot of hard work and mistakes figuring things out. My goal with Joe was to learn "easier, more effective & more fun training for me & my pup". Joe delivered on all 3 plus more. Joe is a multi-award winning trainer/breeder and helped me "connect the dots" that are often missed or overlooked in the other training programs/videos. Joe & Kris have a wonderful dog training facility and welcomed me as a friend. I'll definitely be back for more training prior to the HZP & VGP tests.
