October of 2017 we began the process of getting a service dog for our autistic and epileptic 4 year old son. The agreed upon price for the 12 months of service dog training was $7,000. The entire amount was paid for through donations by our church family. Erik Hall was paid for the entire 12 months of training up front by the church. Erik Hall also was the one who picked out the Golden Retriever for our son, which we paid for through a GoFundMe page. The entire invested amount for the dog and the services was $7,900. After the church paid Erik for the services, he opened his new shop location and developed an updated contract to ensure nothing would legally fall back on him. The longer the training would progress, the less money we would be eligible for through a refund, and he ensured that there was no guarantee or warranty on the service dog. The first 6 months we spent very little time with the service dog in training, and there were many warning signs that she was not suitable to be a working dog but we kept being reassured by the trainer that she was on track. She was destroying personal belongings on ours and the trainer. The trainer's solution was to secure her in a cage, correct her through an electronic collar, and keep a camera on her at all times. We have since gotten the dog reassessed by another professional trainer who has over 40 years of training experience and they stated destructive behavior of any kind automatically disqualifies a dog from being a working dog and every professional trainer knows that. Throughout the process every time we would almost halt the training and try and start the process with another dog, the trainer would continually urge us to continue on and that the dog was still on track knowing that the longer the training progressed the less the refund would be. The trainer has since completely removed himself the situation since the training has completed and we are left with a dog that is destroying our belongings, eating our walls in our home, and can't be used as a working dog.
