Upward Hound Dog Training

After researching and talking to multiple trainers with varying training philosophies, I felt Casey from Upward Hound was the most reasonable, knowledgeable, compassionate and answered all of my questions that actually made sense! I immediately enrolled my dog into Upward Hound’s “Reactive Rover” class for my dog friendly, yet very leash reactive dog. In less than 6 weeks, my dog was transformed. Rather than being an embarrassment to take on leash walks, she is now well mannered and fun to take with! I am beyond thrilled! If you are unsure, skeptical or wondering if this will help your dog. IT WILL! It’s all what you put into it. Do the work and you will see the results. It’s not hard and you can go at your own pace. I watched first hand what it did to all the dogs in my class. Casey and Upward Hound saved my relationship with my dog. I live in a ground floor apartment and have dogs and people going by very frequently. My dog, Senne, was barking at everything she heard or smelled that was new or startling. It was stressful for both of us… which made her bark more and made me cry with frustration and a conviction that I was failing her. Casey consulted with me (over zoom) and gave me several ideas, along with the reassurance that this was completely normal for a puppy who was just learning all about the world. One key idea was that I didn’t need to ration rewards, and that jackpot treating is a win for everyone. So bring on the hot dogs! In the last several days, Senne has greeted her favorite doggie friend through the fence, her favorite people friends on a neighboring balcony, and tolerated 50mph wind gusts with only a couple of well-in-control barks. It took time and sooooo many “Good Quiet” hot dog pieces (which are specifically reserved as Quiet treats), but when she is startled or scared now, she is very quick to run to me for reassurance and love. We are both so much happier and relaxed, and enjoy just being at home so much more.

Such a great service! We are so lucky to have them locally! Casey is wonderful! She is great at positive reinforcement training and is so patient with you and your dog. She’s very knowledgeable in her field and did a great job with her assessment, recommendations, and training. I have a reactive dog, when on a leash, and in just a few weeks of classes we made some major improvements! I would highly recommend! Very affordable for the service!!!!
