James was great with our 1.5year old mini golden doodle who had some strong attachment issues along with the need of basic dog/human interaction training. We did the two weeks board and train, and James helped our dog become more confident. It was very important to us to train our dog without loosing his personality and James is the trainer for that. He also continued to help us once we got our dog back home and continues to check in to make sure we are set up for success and continue in the right direction. We would definitely recommend Upstate Dog Academy for all levels of dog training.

Where to even begin! I’ll start by saying that James and crew have been just an absolute dream come true to work with. I would not go to anyone else ever again except for Upstate Dog Academy for a pup now or in the future. We had tried using a different trainer in the area and did not have any luck with our sweet boy Beau Duke. Coming from that situation, James was extremely accommodating knowing our hesitancies from our previous experience. When I say he has catered to every pup assistance and need, we cannot begin to thank James enough. We are eternally thankful for all that him and team have done; from basics to beyond, they are the go to in the upstate and couldn’t sing their praises high enough!

My big dog,Valor, starts whining to get out as soon as he recognizes the neighborhood. James KNOWS dogs, loves dogs, trains dogs with love and special rewards. He knows the psychology behind unwanted behaviors. There's never physical punishment, but firm commands and lots of rewards and kisses. Valor LOVES being housed and times of play when left with James, on my extended trips!

James is soo amazing! Our dobie puppy went to him and after two weeks he is so much better. They keep you updated and they are so outgoing and easy to work with! They also explain how to do it at home to keep it going. Our boy will be back soon for his next level of training I a thousand percent recommend.
