My gsd puppy is 5 months and he has gone upstairs but will not go down them. This has been one of many obstacles im faced with on a daily basis. He is also biting Hard on my arms, legs, and bruises me. Is this fear anxiety?

I want to also say I have had someone come to the house who was a professional trainer,but she couldn't get him to go down. She suggested stair treads but i got them right away and now its three weeks later, still im stuck carrying him back down. He is heavy and im doing all i can to get him to walk down! HE IS A SMART DOG! His puppy biting doesnt seem innocent anymore its also getting way to hard for me to endure! I called last night but the office was closed. I am in tears because ive tried all other techniques out there and i am so patient and loving with my puppy,not to mention all the money put into my puppy to give him the best but i don't know what im doing wrong. He is arfraid to even go in a car for rides with me! Any help is appreciated! I love my dog and am desperate to get help!

Thomas, thank you for videos and they're really helping me train my 4 month old lab. Question: the Pat Nolan book from Dogtra has all behavior taught first with collar only then the voice command is added. You say connect collar to your voice. Help!

Marigrace and the whole team at Upstate Canine are incredibly good at what they do, and passionate about it, too! We brought our 2 year old pit bull Gonzo for a 3 week board and train to help get us all on the same communication path with our sweet and silly boy. He would get over-excited about everything and everyone he met, and we needed help to collectively as a whole family communicate clear expectations and calm behavior from Gonzo. We missed him so much during boarding, but completely trusted them after a couple of very in-depth conversations with Marigrace, along with support from the rest of the team. We learned so much about our boy and the breed (our second pit bull pup). The very practical knowledge that she passed over to us was SO helpful in truly understanding Gonzo, what he did, and why. And that made all the difference in our relationship with our puppy dog. Bringing him home, he was so well-mannered and in tune with us. We're so impressed with the progress they made with him! Just as impressive are the follow-up one-on-one sessions with Marigrace. It's such an amazing perk that comes with board and train!! It solidifies what we've been learning in muscle memory, both in us and in Gonzo. It's like learning a new language, so practice and execution are key. We just can't be grateful enough to have Marigrace on our side, walking us through it all. We keep on learning new ways to deepen our relationship with Gonzo, and keep pushing what we learn every time we go to Upstate. Thank you so much, Marigrace and team! We'll keep coming and recommend you all wholeheartedly to anyone who'll listen!!

I have been bringing my 1.5 year old dog Charlie to train with Zack for the last couple months. We purchased a package deal of 8 private sessions and 6 group. The trainer, Zack, has been the absolute best with her and she’s progressed so much. Charlie is a very nervous rescue dog and Zack is very patient with her and knows exactly how to work with her. She is able to do things now that we never thought were going to be possible. We are so so so grateful for all Zack has taught us and how well he has worked with our family. We highly recommend Upstate Canine Academy to every dog lover we know. It is well worth it, it will change you and your pups life!

Not to sound too cliche, Zach truly did improve the relationship I had with my old lady Jude. She was eight years old when we came in, a difficult walker, reactive around other dogs, and the cutest girl. By the time we were done she was a fantastic walker, could exist around other dogs, and somehow got even cuter! Working with him gave us a better last few years than we would have had without his help. When I adopted Jude's little brother Boyd we quickly hit a wall because he's a smart little puppy. I reached out to Zach to help me. The lessons have been thorough and designed to be appropriate to Boyd's stage of development. Through his instruction the last few months we have this 10 month old making me look like an expert dog trainer when we go on walks. Zach's method is to teach us how to teach our dogs. His explanations are in depth and cover how to do training techniques, why we use the technique, dog behavior, and a little Descartes. The dog behavior has been especially informative. I now know that Boyd runs away with my shoes because he thinks it's funny to annoy me. I recommend Zach to anyone that wants to learn how to work with their dog.

We've made great strides with our puppy over the last few weeks of the Foundations Program. Raising a high energy puppy over a very brutal winter was difficult and we felt behind on his exposure and training in more stimulating environments. He improves with each week and we can't wait to see what future training holds!
