Upper Suncoast Dog Training Club

Excellent club with knowledgeable instructors! I started with my mini aussie in the Puppy Star class when he was around 6 months old and he is now 3 and we have been going to classes here ever since. We've taken a variety of classes from puppy, obedience, tricks, and agility. We've learned so much from the classes. We also love the occasional fun special events like Dog Olympics. Such a welcoming atmosphere and would recommend to anyone looking to train their dog from the basics to more advanced skills.

UPDATE: Since I posted my review 3 years ago, so many amazing things have occurred at Upper Suncoast Dog Training Club. The club has expanded their service dog training, Alliance of Therapy Dogs permitting our certified instructors to credential dogs as ATD qualified. This all volunteer club offers education from novice to expert in facets of training including Agility, Confirmation, Rally, along with club activities including 'Pack Walks' for better on leash and social behaviors, while having many 'students' qualify for Westminster Agility, National Confirmation, AKC National Agility Invitational and others. They have earned 501c3 status and have dogs in nursing homes and schools weekly. Dental care is provided at discounted rates, and visiting experts participate in seminars in the bright, and updated club on Logan Street, Clearwater. My story is how I brought two rescue Australian Cattle Dogs 9 years ago and never looked back. They've both had major AKC Agility success. Many new friends, patient and excellent instructors Remember- these are VOLUNTEERS, and when I read the occasional negative review I have to wonder if they attended the same Upper Suncoast DTC I do! Be patient getting your new dog into any particular class, ask questions, and practice at home and you will enrich your experience with your new partner beyond your imagination.

Look elsewhere except for STAR puppy. I've attended 5 classes with 2 different dogs and except for STAR puppy was extremely disappointed with the "teachers". Most are not trained teachers, just taught by each other so the club can make $$. I was in classes with one that when she was a student in another class I was in, constantly shamed and got angry with her dogs, then she became a teacher in Basic Obedience! No patience or caring or conversation about an issue you might need help with! She said very rude things about me and my dog on the final day. Just not a person with any dog training or personal interaction sense. They don't seem to know what a real trainer is and I've been going to trainings with my dogs for 33 years. USDOC was by far the worst experience. Their classes are way too big simply taught by members who belong to the club, I'm guessing to get their own dogs titled. Please don't waste your $$ on Basic Obedience there unless your dog is already well trained and you just need a certificate. It's a shame.
