Today we picked up our boy Hondo from a two week board and train program. We couldn’t be happier with the results! Hondo, a German Shepherd Dog, was only 18 weeks old, and we’ve anticipated training hurdles with a pup this young. Derek was able to achieve impressive results, even at such young age. His patience, knowledge, and experience gave Hondo a solid foundation to build upon. Our pup learned leash manners, recall, and shows significant progress in managing distractions, with so much more potential to reveal. Derek was easy to work with; he was upfront with us on what we can expect and the limitations Hondo’s age may present. Derek taught us the proper handling and training techniques to use with our boy. The outcome was more than what we’ve expected. We highly recommend Derek. His professionalism and high standards will make us a return customer with Hondo’s sister-to-come!!

Derek did an AMAZING job with our Belgian Malinois! As a retired K9 officer with his own Mali, I knew he was the perfect trainer for our mali puppy. He is extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly what our dog needed, and helped me learn how to handle him, which is just as important as the training itself. Derek is precise in his teaching and was compassionate toward our dog, our dog responded well to him and loved working with him. You could tell he loves working qith dogs and cares for his clients. His training at various locations provides real world application and understanding of our dog. I highly recommend using Unleashed K9 Academy and would go back for follow up sessions as needed.

We sent our 2 dogs to Derek for a 2 week board and train to work on behavior issues and general obedience. Our pit mix is very stubborn (one of the top 5 most stubborn Derek said he has worked with) but he got through to him. Our Shephard mix lacks impulse control but is getting better with it. We still have work to do with them, but they have come so far and we can't thank Derek enough! Would highly recommend Unleashed K9 Academy.

I am so happy with the training that Derek did with my two dogs. He had his hands full with my reactive 3 year old pit mix along with her completely opposite sister that had absolutely no confidence in herself. During the two week boarding process I received picture, video, text and phone call updates. He responded to every in-between texts as well. I overly enjoyed the extremely thorough pick up process. He dedicated his afternoon to walk me through both of my dogs new training plans. I am excited to continue the training and cannot wait to give him an update on their progress. I am grateful for his support.
