I was at a loss and didn’t know what to do, when I found UNITED K9 ACADEMY on line. I talked with Craig Hanna and from there, started training. I have had big dogs before, but never a Cane Corso weighing in at 135 lbs!! I now have a a Cane Corso that I can manage. He walks on leash, stays, sits, takes place, down and heel and listens to me. Bash is a different dog thanks to Craig. He truly is an answer to my prayer and has become a dear family friend to us. The main thing we like about Craig the most is that, he is patient and soft spoken. He has helped me with my anxiety of walking such a strong dog. 😊

My experience with Craig and United K9 Academy has been nothing but positive for both me and my dog. When I adopted my dog from animal control, I wanted to make sure I put her in the best position to be a successful and confident dog. While I have some experience with dog training I wanted to find an experienced trainer, especially since I was a first time owner of an Australian Cattle Dog mix (had only owned Pugs before my current dog). There are many things that I believe set Craig apart from other dog trainers. Below are just a few examples: 1) Training Method/Techniques--Craig understands that not every dog responds to the same training method or technique. There isn't a one size fits all training model at United K9 Academy--training is personalized to each dog. There has never been a time when he has asked me to do a specific training techique where I feel my dog has been compromised either mentally or physically. I can tell he understands how a dog thinks and can give a handler the necessary tools to bring out the best in their dog. 2) Communication--Whether it is through our Facebook group, calls/texts, or in person, Craig is always communicating with his clients. There has never been a time where I've felt ghosted by him or pushed aside. Whenever I've had a concern regarding my dog, he is always available to give me advice. And if I have to leave a voicemail, he returns my call in a timely manner. 3) Accountability--Animals have the ability to hold an individual accountable and so does Craig. Craig realizes that success doesn't come without hard work and he isn't afraid to let someone know when their dog's success, or lack of success, stems from their lack of commitment to their dog. He emphasizes that training sessions outside of private lessons help strengthen the relationship between the handler and the dog. 4) Reliable--Craig is a very reliable person. If he says he will be somewhere, I can trust he will show up early. He is always prepared for our lessons, but is also open to feedback from his clients. If a client has something he/she would like to focus on he finds time within the training session to address the concern expressed. 5) Services--Craig has the experience to train any dog for a variety of jobs (therapy, service, personal protection, etc.), as well as just providing basic obedience. His experience as a dog handler in the US Army (trained and worked with IED detection dogs) shines through and is one of the reasons I've been confident working with him while training my own service dog. 6) Honesty--Craig is very honest. He will not beat around the bush or be afraid to tell you something regarding your dog. For example, when I first started working with Craig, I thought my dog would be a great scent detection dog. He told me that she might have a good nose, but she doesn't have the high drive a scent detection dog requires. I appreciated his honesty because just like people, I understand that a dog may not have all the qualities necessary to perform a job to the best of his/her ability. There are many other qualities which I believe make Craig an exceptional dog trainer. I would highly recommend United K9 Academy to any person who is looking to take their dog to the next level.
