Our family spent three months in Los Angeles with our 6 year old Darmstadt born German shepherd, and upon our return, he developed severe reactivity to dogs, bikes, and scooters. We love our dog and felt a deep responsibility for him; but, we needed help! Our daily dog walks were becoming a dangerous and unpleasant chore. Fortunately, after researching many dog trainers, we found Belynda Moore and Emerald Meadows Canine Training. Belynda’s keen ability to immediately focus and accurately evaluate a dog for their individual problem, whether: anxiety, fear, defense, reactivity, aggressive behavior, or other, allowed her to develop a plan to address his specific needs for improvement. Initially, a firm solid foundation in basic obedience is instituted while learning leadership skills. Gradually, well behaved dogs are met for respect and socialization. Not only does she present good tools for us to use to redirect his behavior, she also trains us to become better dog leaders. By helping us recognize the earliest warning signs of impending bad behavior, we are now able to redirect his actions and avoid these problems. Each week we have seen and continue to see significant improvement in his overall demeanor. We are now able to safely and confidently take our daily walks and pause to greet other dogs pleasantly. While many trainers can identify and quickly correct a dog’s improper behavior, the dog often relapses into his/her old habits and the initial problem returns. But class is over and the teacher gone! By teaching the dog’s owner how to understand and interpret their pet’s behavior, these issues can be avoided leading to a safer environment and overall better quality of life for a dog. I could not be more impressed and pleased with the training I have received! I have a 7 year old Pomeranian Schipperke mix who was both dog and people aggressive. When we went for our demo session my dog was lunging and attempting to attack Belynda’s dog and could not handle being near it. In our training this week (after just 7 sessions) he was able to sit next to the same dog and not have a reaction as well as walk around the dog and have the dog move around him. He is also now able to go out into public without reacting as people walk past. He has shown an incredible amount of improvement and I could not be happier. Belynda was truly able to give me the tools to transform my dog!
