Two Brothers Sporting Dogs

TL;DR: I'm an experienced upland bird hunter (20+ years) and have had several gun dogs trained by various trainers. Bobby did an amazing job with our 2yr old American Brittany. After ~4mo training through summer, our Brittany not only has a stylish point but is ROCK SOLID steady through flush and shot. I highly recommend Bobby at Two Brothers Sporting Dogs for your gun dog training needs and will definitely be a return customer for our future dogs. Full Review: I'm in my 40s now and grew up with gun dogs, first black lab retrievers and later versatile American Brittanies. I mostly hunt upland now but I know what well trained gun dogs look like, how I want my dogs to work the field, and what to expect when working with professional trainers. I live in the city with a busy work schedule, I knew I needed a professional trainer who had the time, access to fields and birds that I don't. After doing my research, I contacted Bobby at Two Brothers Sporting Dogs for a short interview. I could tell right away that Bobby knew his stuff... he was knowledgeable, professional, and gave it to you straight. I had a list of abilities/commands that I wanted and expected the training to take 3-4 months for what I wanted.. our girl could be a little headstrong. After some correspondence back and forth Bobby met with us to assess our pup. I was open to suggestions in a few areas, Bobby made some recommendations, and we came up with a customized training plan together. Everything he was saying was right on par with other professional trainers I've worked with in the past and met my expectations. What really sets Bobby apart for me was his very personal approach to each and every dog, the passion and care he puts into every dog under his care, his openness and honesty, and his hands-on approach to working with his clients. He sent regular updates on our dog's progress which included photos and short videos. Regular client visits are included in his program, but Bobby is very family friendly and invited our 3 elementary school aged kids to those visits. He's keen to encourage families to be a part of the training and believes kiddos are future hunters in the making... I really appreciated that tried to make each session enjoyable for kiddos and inclusive. It may be that he took a particular shining to our little family, but he offered to help me expose my kids to shooting shotguns for the first time... a special milestone for them. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the results of training. After 4 months, our pup has fantastic recall (something she was very headstrong about), pays attention to me and self-adjusts her ranging patterns to what I'm doing, has a gorgeous point, and is absolutely ROCK SOLID through flush and shot until I give the release command. I've attached some photos of her first real field hunt. We're still working on exposing her to different bird species and environments as well as her retrieving skills. 5/5 stars, would use for training again. I should also mention that Bobby also breeds rather handsome pointing griffons and may soon be offering field cockers too!

Bobby and Faith trained my Wirehaired Pointing Griffon for the past 3 months. She was 8 months when I took her to Two Bros., and I just picked her up today. I obviously have not hunted with her yet, but I visited every two weeks and was able to watch Bobby work with her in the field, as well as watching Bobby and Faith work with her in the yard. I am impressed with how they structured their training to my dog's personality and did not just apply a set program. Each visit, Bobby was great about explaining and demonstrating what she had been learning, so I know what to expect (and what not to expect) from her. When I picked her up today he talked me through work I can be doing with her daily at home (my "homework"). I can't wait to start working with her and getting her out in the field at Walton Ranch or Top Flight to get her on some birds. Based on what I saw on my visits in the field, I know she will do great. I addition to pointer training, Bobby got her started on retriever training. She's a Griff, not a Lab, and my expectations for her were set accordingly, but I am pleased with her start on retrieving. I plan to take her back to Two Bros. for more retrieving training after she has matured a little more. I had been warned not to take my Griff (1st I've owned) to a trainer that does not understand the breed. As a Griff breeder, Bobby gets them and enjoys them. I recommend him to owners of any kind of bird dog, and especially to anyone with a pointer, spaniel or other "non-Lab" breed that tends to be "softer". BTW, their kennel is very nice, kept clean, and I believe my Griff was well treated in addition to being well trained. It was obvious she loved working with Bobby and Faith and that they took really good care of her.
