Truly Force Free Animal Training

I was presented with my dog Birdie @ 3 months ago - a very loving, energetic, beautiful "Border Terrier" who following DNA testing through 2 companies determined Birdie is actually about half & half Mini Poodle & French Bull dog. It rapidly became clear after her adoption that she is highly reactive to other dogs & has issues with separation anxiety. My friend who is a Veterinarian recommended Shannon @ Truly Force Free for training & guidance with Birdie's issues. Shannon has welcomed Birdie into day care at her home where Shannon & her staff have rapidly (& safely) introduced Birdie to a couple of dogs with whom she has played & made friends. This interaction is Birdie's seed for growth and for having a fun, safe & well balanced life, as she is only 1 - 2 years old. I too am being trained to desensitize Birdie to my brief departures while she is in her kennel in my home. Shannon's trainings are consistently supportive, kind, & rewarding - she trains the trainer to continue that supportive, kind manner while dealing with frustrating issues - utilizing small steps to take our dog along the desired path of learning & integration in a step by step manner. Yes, we have a ways to go - Birdie is now signed up for Beginning Agility Classes, provided by Truly Force Free - - with our goal being to provide further integration into structured dog play & education in a safe & expertly supervised environment. We reached out to Shannon at Truly Force Free Animal Training for help with Titus, our 10-year old Border Terrier, who has fear aggression issues. We were not sure if his senior status would be a factor, yet we wanted to make his remaining years better for him and us. We had been to other types of trainers over the years; none resulted in improvement. We were hesitant to take Titus anywhere because he was triggered by everything. After meeting with Shannon for our initial assessment, we were so pleased with her approach and information, we signed up for private training for the family. During the training, she patiently walked us through force-free techniques to use when Titus got triggered. After each private session, she provided a follow-up email on the ‘next steps’ to practice. Shannon’s vet-tech background helped identify that Titus may benefit from medication and suggested we talk with our Vet about it. We tried it out and it’s made a big difference in Titus’ behavior. We are very pleased with everything we have learned and know Titus’ life is better because of Shannon’s expertise, training, and passion. It truly has been a game changer for us and him. His age was not a factor at all! We look forward to Titus’ continued progress and thank Shannon for her insight and constant encouragement!
