Bobby Baldwin (Troy Creek Retrievers) worked with our Chesapeake Bay retriever (Willow) in Westmoreland County in the Virginia Northern Neck for behavior training and then for hunt test and gun dog training. When Willow started her training, she was just over a year old. Bobby confidently worked with Willow for 4 months. During this time he maintained contact with us regarding her progress, and invited and encouraged us to come and visit with her and to see her progress. Bobby has trained Chessies and a variety of retrievers since 1990s and it shows! I’m a nursing educator myself; using principles of learning that are matched to the student. Bobby also effectively applies principles of dog learning and training which gives him the excellent results he achieves. His use of task analysis and behavior training coupled with the principles and basics of gun dog training provided Willow with the foundation she needed to acquire the skills of a gun dog and waterfowl, readying her for AKC hunt trials. In addition, and more importantly, we were taught how to handle our dog, how to work with her and train her once we got her home. Bobby worked with us in group and in individual settings to observe and refine our skills as well. As the owner, I was not only encouraged to have her trained properly, but also to participate in that ongoing training. The skills and training Willow received from Bobby were consistent with the skills Willow needed for AKC trails and for being a good dog and companion. I encourage anyone to talk with Bobby and have your dog trained by him if you want excellent results for both you and your dog. He has the knowledge and skills to meet your dog where it is, and gains an understanding of each dog as an individual, which allows him to form a unique relationship with each dog. Patty Schweickert
