Hi Allyn, Puppy biting too often turns into the worst of behaviors, your dog later biting YOU, giving YOU corrections when you do not adhere to what it thinks is right. Training tips that work most of the time - Stop interaction when biting starts (stop getting the energy out of your pup?) - Redirect your pup to a toy (hard biting continues and pup doesn’t learn) - Leave the room (pup might make the connection with the bite?) - Place in “Time Out” – Crate your dog (The crate is supposed to be a safe place and not used for punishment) - Utter a loud “Ouch” in a high pitched voice (will make some pups want to bite you even more!) - Use bitter sprays, hot pepper sauce on your skin (no pain involved here right?) Facts about puppy biting and bite pressure when ‘biters’ are with mom and litter mates. - If the puppy becomes too aggressive with biting mom, mom will correct the puppy. First teeth flashing then a nip back. - If the puppy is play fighting for dominance and bites a less dominate pup, yes the less dominant will yelp and run away… sooner or later that mild pup will turn and warn the aggressor. The next dog ‘attacked’ might not run away but return the favor and give that biting pup a taste of its own medicine (oh, no discomfort here right?). What not to do with puppy biting - Do not yell at your pup as it might make it even more excited and encourages the biting. - Do not spank your dog as one, it might make it more excited and bite more. Two, most dogs will become fearful of you. I have to assume that you have an issue with your puppy biting and brought the subject up during your evaluation or our trainer would not have shown you ‘the last resort’, a correction, for this behavior. What is missing from your description of the event is your pup being praised and being loved on for displaying the proper behavior when the biting stopped (the playing did not stop). It would seem that you are truly confused by the description of the methods used when implementing the prong collar. The prong is used to help facilitate Focus. If your pup is not focused on you, it will simply not listen. Positive reinforcement is fundamental in the training process of a dog. One cannot build a happy and healthy relationship without positive reinforcement and is therefore found in every aspect of our training methods. A dog will not focus on you, much less bond with you, if your training consists of pain and fear based methods. If our training methods were ‘Fear Based’ as you suggest then we would not have the overwhelming amount of 5 star reviews that we do,… which you evidently did not take the time to read. We wish you the best of luck with your positive only training, a one-sided training method that only promotes the good behavior but does not eliminate the bad behavior.

Racist institutions?... If one considers the United States Military and our first responders, the Police, Fire Departments, and Paramedics (the ONLY institutions that are supported by this business) racist then we certainly have a disagreement on the interpretation of the words “racist institutions’. These institutions save so many lives every single day… This is not an issue that I am inclined to discuss with someone who obviously has their own demons to battle. It was stated that you had great success with the prior training of your dog which raises the question of why you have abandoned what was working so well for you and your pup to come to us? Our training is based in love. Treats, Love and Play for ALL of the proper behaviors. With that said, we work with aggressive dogs, meaning dogs that have bitten and/or will bite. If you were witness to a correction, it is because YOUR dog not only falls into this category but was actively engaged in attacking one of the trainers or another dog. If you believe that ignoring the situation or kissing and loving on your dog during such an event is the proper training method, then you are correct in assuming that we are not the trainers you need.
