What people have asked about this business.
Do you offer Board & Train?
Yes. For families who need extra help or don’t have the time to do all the foundation work themselves, we offer board & train programs that include owner coaching on the back end. We don’t just hand you back a “trained dog,” we teach you how to keep that training alive at home.

What makes Training That Lasts different from other dog training companies?
We teach you how to get your dog to follow through because they trust you, not because they fear you, and not just for food. We use positive reinforcement like treats to mark the right behaviors, but the real secret is in your timing, your tone, your posture, and your consistency. We show you how to create clarity, not confusion. Dogs aren’t robots, they need structure and leadership that makes sense.

Yes. But not with quick fixes or bark and e-collars. We help the dogs with big feelings, the ones that lunge, growl, snap, or shut down. We use behavior modification, desensitization, and counterconditioning to change how your dog feels about their triggers, not just how they act.

Absolutely! Real-life behavior happens in your living room, your yard, your front door. That’s where we want to work. Our behavioral consultations give us the full picture and allow us to customize the plan for your home, your routine, your family and your dog.

Before the bad habits start. We recommend starting between 8-10 weeks and continue on as that’s your golden window for socialization and foundational skills like crate training, leash exposure, and bite inhibition. Early training prevents future headaches. Think of that first few months like preschool for your dog.

We offer Behavioral Consultations as a starting point to equip you with the tools you need to build a bond while learning to communicate together. We also offer puppy development, group sessions, structured walks, board-and-training, and 1 on 1 Training sessions. More importantly, we teach people how to lead their dogs with connection and consistency... because a well-trained dog without a well-informed owner still has a problem.

A structured walk is a focused, leash-guided walk where your dog stays by your side. It builds impulse control, respect, and connection, not just exercise. You lead, they follow. Structure first, freedom later.

No. We do not use shock collars, e-collars, or any form of electronic stimulation. We understand their place but we don't recommend using them. Our philosophy is rooted in trust, communication and building connection, not control through discomfort.

We are so very glad we called Training that Lasts to help us start working more harmoniously with our recently rescued dog, Jenny. Tyler taught us in one session how to interpret some of the aggressive behaviors we were seeing and equipped us with some strategies to work with her. It was a great session, and more about teaching us what to do and how to do it so we can improve the trust relationship. The humans in our house have some homework, but we are glad to! See you in group class!!

We called Tyler to come to our home for personal training with our 3 month old GSP. We needed extra help training our pup to use his manors (jumping, nipping, etc were issues) around our young children in addition to walking on a loose leash. Tyler did a fantastic job at explaining the human/dog relationship which came full circle in learning how to connect and train our puppy properly. Within a week after our one on one training, not only do we have our GSP walking on a loose leash, our young children are able to as well! Tyler also gave us some great tips for treats to give the puppy and educated us on a proper diet for him. Highly recommend Tyler and his team!

Tyler is amazing. Ruger completed a 12 day board and train with Tyler while we were on vacation and what a difference he made. Prior to his stay Ruger couldn’t come into contact with another dog without thinking his was the “big guy” wanting to bark and charge and now Ruger can calmly walk by other dogs and be in the presence of them with no barking or tugging but sitting nicely and unbothered. We will be using Tyler every time we go on vacation moving forward! Truly the best!

Training That Lasts, led by Tyler, has been a transformative experience for my pit bull, Mushu, over the past 10 months. After rescuing Mushu last June and a very unfortuate event in July, I called Tyler for help. Since then, Tyler has worked with Mushu weekly in 1-on-1 sessions, and the progress has been remarkable. More recently, we participated in a 5-session group class. Mushu, who was once a very nervous and unsocialized dog, has gained confidence around both people and other dogs. He is truly a different dog than he was before meeting Tyler.
Tyler's patience and genuine love for my boy have made all the difference. His dedication and skill in dog training are evident in the positive changes we've seen in Mushu. I highly recommend Training That Lasts to anyone looking for professional, compassionate, and effective dog training. Thank you, Tyler, for bringing out the best in Mushu!
