Train Walk Poop

I have two dogs, an 8 year old cattle dog and 10 year old terrier. I had been using Train Walk Poop to board them as I travel out of state several times a year. Many of the highly rated reviews for TWP are for training. I have not used their training program so I cant speak to that, but with the holidays coming up and lots of people traveling, I would like to give an honest review of their boarding and daycare facility. After an incident with one of my dogs, which was never truly explained or clarified to me, I was called by a staff member while I was 3000 miles away and told my 8-year-old cattle dog was exhibiting signs of extreme stress and ‘whale eyes’. I could do little about this but was arriving back in SLC 24 hours later and they were my first stop from the airport. Following up on e-mails exchanged where TWP staff told me my cattle dog was being crated for approximately 16 hours a day (?!) on a ten day stay with them I wanted clarification from the owner if this was true. The owner of TWP, Ryan, arranged a phone call with me in which, when asked why they do not make it clear how long dogs would be in small crates for replied “people don’t want to read that”. Despite the website claiming lots of toys and bedding, bedding is not given to any dog in these crates. Ryan told me if I wanted my dogs to have bedding I should make that clear. I had been with TWP for years and gave them one more try for a single overnight stay shortly after this when I had an out of state emergency. This time I brought our own bedding for my dogs and told the staff member, on Ryans recommendation, they could have bedding in their crates. Picking my dogs up the next day I was told they were not given bedding and they again spent a night on plastic. My 8 year old cattle dog has since showed signs of nerve damage, limping in her hind legs, dragging her front right leg, which further developed into fecal incontinence. You cannot keep a dog in a crate for that many hours a day. It is cruel, it is unnecessary and to have the gall to charge people $85 a day/night to do so is criminal. More than anything it seems like TWP decided to make extra money on the side of their training programs by crating your dog for as many hours a day they think they can get away with while you are away (if you use them for just day care, you’re not excluded from this). This is not a boarding facility. Do not board your dogs here and re evaluate day care if you think you are paying for your dogs to be socialized and exercised. At the very least ask for a full run down of how your dogs time is spent while under their ‘care’ so you can make an informed decision. The website is an inaccurate description of how this place is run.

I'm honestly not very happy with our experience here. Hali, the trainer was amazing. But our pup came back from the 2 week training program pretty much the same. They told me multiple times that "he can't do this yet because he's too young, or can't stand this amount of training yet because he's too young" which i ABSOLUTELY understand. But you shouldn't let me pay $3000 just for my dog to come back the same since he was too young for training. If a dog is too young, it should be way less than $3000 since the training isn't going to be nearly as extensive or thorough. Our pup is 7 months now and I would consider this company now because he's still naughty. But I unfortunately don't have another 3k to bust out. I would absolutely not do it if you have a super young puppy. Wait until they are a little older.

Train, walk, poop was a god send for me. I adopted a very anxious, untrained dog and they helped him blossom!! The day training program was so easy and helpful and worked beautifully with my work schedule. Shout out to Nikko who was excellent with both of my dogs and gave me many helpful training tips and exercises. The entire staff is awesome and friendly. I highly recommend this place for training and daycare!

Came to TWP with my puppy that was just over a year old. She’s a very anxious and reactive dog but super friendly who just needed some good training. I had tried training her on my own but I was out of my element. Came to TWP for a consultation and signed her up for the Marvelous Mutt board and train program. Niko was our trainer and the results were amazing! My dog gained confidence around other dogs/people as well as good practices all around. Niko was very helpful and answered questions I had as well as guided me through me what I needed to do on my end to maintain a good environment for both me and my dog. I was nervous to board her at first but the staff are super friendly and helpful and I take my dog back for daycare regularly because of it. Can’t recommend this place enough!!
