My wife and I are having our first child soon, and we wanted to help prepare our Aussie, who is territorial and easily frightened. Here's an individual with the highest level of expertise, a talent for effective, enjoyable teaching and his rates are remarkably low. Many of the most highly skilled experts available to train you and your dog come from the US military where the Air Force trains Dog Handlers as well as the Working Dogs. You'd be lucky to find a Handler available to give lessons. BUT... you'd need to be twice lucky because many who are experts in their fields do not make effective teachers. A lot of Dog Handlers will tell you that Travis Padgett is among the best there is. That's because he trained them! He has more than thirty years worth of knowledge and experience. I met Travis about a month ago for our first lesson. He's a total professional who clearly loves his work. I was fully prepared to pay twice as much for any trainer. We've had five lessons so far. My son, our dog and I love our sessions. I have a very personal reason to speak so highly of Travis. He knows his work inside and out and he knows how to convey it ... even to the learning disabled. My adult son has serious issues with focus and recall. Most learning situations are quite stressful for him. Travis and he connected immediately. He shows my son respectful kindness.
