An Amazing Transformation — Hazel’s Story We cannot say enough wonderful things about Jake and Town and Country K9! Our Newfoundland puppy, Hazel, was 20 weeks old when we entrusted her to Jake for four weeks of training. Before training, Hazel was accustomed to living up north on an acre of land and being a true free spirit. She had very limited exposure to the public, although she was always friendly and loved meeting people. Our summers are spent at our beach house, where leash laws are strictly enforced. This was a completely different environment for Hazel. She was suddenly exposed to busy areas, people wanting to meet her, other dogs, and, of course, bunnies! She wanted to play with everything and everyone and would pull on her leash to get there. Jake completely transformed her ability to listen, respond to commands, and remain focused, even in distracting environments. What impressed us most was the quality time and individual attention he gave Hazel. Her “classroom” wasn’t just a training facility — he took her on outings to new places so she could learn how to behave appropriately in real-world situations. Throughout the four weeks, Jake kept us involved with daily videos and updates, which allowed us to see Hazel’s progress and made us feel like we were part of her training journey. When the four weeks were over, Jake personally delivered Hazel to us at the beach house. He spent three hours training us, demonstrating the techniques he had taught Hazel and walking with us through the areas around our home where she would encounter the most distractions. He was always available afterward to answer our questions and provide guidance. And when we had an issue after Hazel came home, Jake didn’t hesitate — he was immediately back onsite to help us. That level of commitment and support says everything about the kind of trainer he is. Jake is professional, knowledgeable, patient, caring, and truly passionate about what he does. His training is extremely effective, but more importantly, he genuinely cares about the dogs entrusted to him. You can tell that he loves what he does and treats every dog as if they were his own. Hazel has become a much happier, more confident, and better-behaved dog, and we feel so much more confident taking her out into the world with us. We highly recommend Jake and Town and Country K9! It has been just about 2 weeks since our pup Hooch returned from his 4 week Board and Train. I cannot say enough good things about the training that he received. Jake is phenomenal! We have a different puppy! He left as a 6 month old wild but funny and very sweet puppy with poor impulse control and recall. He returned to us as a 7 month old puppy with confidence, calmness, great recall, impulse control and obedient to commands without losing an ounce of his very funny character. I am able to walk him entirely off leash on the beach, in the water and through the woods daily with no worries. He is just so happy...and so are we! Jake's knowledge, patience, dedication and compassion was evident in every picture and video that he sent on a daily basis. It was quite evident that our pup was loved and well taken care of. The bond that he and Hooch formed was based on trust, affection and praise...something that we will strive to continue. Town and Country is fantastic! Mandy is a high-energy husky-malinois mix. We sent her to Jake for three weeks to work on her fear of men and leash manners. Not only did Mandy return to us with her new off-leash skills, but the most impressive part was her love for Jake. Jake cares so much for these dogs, and it shows by the bond he creates. He sent daily updates, and our session at Mandy's return home was amazingly informative. I was super happy with Jake's property and knowing all the dogs were in a loving home. Since Mandy has been home, her training has been transformative. She is still her lovely self, but has the impulse control and manners to handle more freedom. I wanted to take a minute to recommend Town & Country K9 LLC. Jake was absolutely incredible with our puppy, Darla. When we first got her, she was full of energy, a piranha, stubborn, and honestly a little crazy at times. Now she is so much calmer, better behaved, and more enjoyable to be around. Jake has a true gift with dogs. He was patient, knowledgeable, and knew exactly how to work with Darla’s personality while also teaching us how to be better dog owners. The transformation in her listening skills, focus, and overall behavior is amazing. He communicated with us daily and sent a picture and/or a video so we knew our girl was learning, happy, and safe.
