Total Recall School for Dogs

Brought in our 4-month puppy hoping to have help with his high energy and nipping, but we were not given much advice about it. The very serious and strict trainer told us to use Binaca breath spray in his mouth (which contains alcohol and can be dangerous to a puppy's eyes if missed, even though she said otherwise) and it barely helped- just irritated him more in the end. We started using air cans like Sentry (just for the noise) AWAY from my pup to lightly startle him and it works SO much better. Otherwise, she taught us very basic tricks he already knew and turned half the class into agility, which was fun, but not helpful at home. She also heavily advised the use of prong collars with VERY little instruction on proper handling- luckily I had that training before. Prong collars are NOT advised for puppies under 6mos old and are very dangerous if misused!!! Finally, at the very least we were hoping to use the class for socialization but the only time we could was on potty breaks as the trainer wanted us to stay separate. Class was very uncomfortable, gave dangerous advice, and taught us little usable information for home. We won't be coming here for our next puppy.
