Top Dog Boarding and Training

We moved from California to Arizona just over a month ago. We have a 19 month old German Shepherd from a working line. Lexi is wonderful, exuberant, has a little stranger danger, we always believed she was smart, but very much a handful. We had tried a few different methods of training with others but we were in need of someone who could really work with us and our pup. I wasn't even sure how to begin to find someone but then... We met Shawn at the Arabian Horse Show a few weeks ago. He had "Jarvis" with him. Jarvis is an impressive Belgian Malinois who Shawn has trained. I chatted with Shawn for a few minutes but in those very few minutes, I knew that I liked him and I liked his approach to training. I went back to the show again and stopped by his booth. I wanted more! We now have completed her initial assessment and 3 one-on-one training sessions. I am so excited to see how excited Lexi is to work and how quickly we see some needed changes. First day, she barked at Shawn and was unsure. She now loves going into the training room...makes herself quite at home with all the props and distractions (yes Shawn, I "cope" and gather data!!! lol and am learning to separate "cope" and "training"). Everything Shawn says makes sense. He explains the "why" not just the "how". He is very respectful of our precious Lexi and us as well. I just hope I progress as quickly as Lexi does!!! My 2 "aha" moments from training yesterday: NO now has a real meaning and it shows Training isn't something to devote a few time slots in a day...Every interaction with Lexi throughout the day is an opportunity for training! I have no words to describe how Top dog boarding and training was beneficial to my Belgium Malinois Lucy. The trainer Jeromy has such an impressive knowledge and intuition about how a dog’s mind work and was exceptional in building the perfect obedience foundation that my dog needs to have in order to take off in her training. It is like Jeromy turned on a little switch in Lucy’s brain! Now I can finally walk her without any leash pulling or craziness when other dogs walk by us, and so many other commands that are making our lives so much easier and enjoyable. All the staff has been so great and I can’t wait to take her back for more classes! Thank you!

Top Dog truly cares about your pet. We took our 2 year old dog here for 3 weeks boarding/training and were pleased with the progress we saw. Our pup is large with a huge personality, which sometimes can be a challenge to train. Jeremy did our assessment and worked closely with our dog while he was in their custody. Jeremy was knowledgeable, kind, and took his time with the information he shared. Also, the staff was wonderful and the facility was very clean. Thanks Tog Dog!

We took our puppy here for some very early basic lessons to help him move in the right direction and prepare him for possibly being a therapy dog. (And let me be honest that I'm actually the one who needed the training...So I'm consistent with our dog. Lol!) We worked with Edgar and had a great experience! Shawn did our assessment. We have a fairly easy breed to work with, but they definitely know how to work with harder-to-train dogs too! They do training for therapy or protection or just to have a good family dog. I was very impressed. Well worth the money!
