I scheduled a herding test for my Australian Cattle Dog with Victoria Long at Wine Glass Ranch. My appointment was at 10:00 AM, and I arrived at the gate right at 10:00. I had some trouble with the gate code, so I called her and said, “Hi Victoria, I’m here, but—” before I could finish, she cut me off and said, “You’re not here, because I’m standing here and you’re not here.” Like other reviewers have mentioned, she may be good at communicating with dogs, but I didn’t even get the chance to find out because of how rude and dismissive she was. I believe working with dogs is not only about training them, but also helping owners build stronger relationships with their dogs. That requires respect, patience, and professionalism toward people as well as animals. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Wine Glass Ranch.
We brought our dog to Wineglass for instinct testing. It was a great short process! He was assessed for herding behaviors and had the chance to respond to a small group of sheep in a corral. Victoria gave us a ton of great info to help us move forward with training in our hometown! Definitely recommend!

We took our dog, Aussie Border Collie Mix, to Victoria at the Wineglass Ranch for help with reliable recall and some leash reactivity. After completing her 4-week Reliable Recall program, we saw huge improvements! Victoria made sure to also train us as well so we felt prepared when we picked her up. We have full trust in Victoria (saying a lot as our dog is such an integral part of our family). We have since boarded her for short stays. Her own dogs are incredibly impressive, and our dog absolutely loved being part of the pack.

Caution: Victoria, who runs this business, might be great at communicating with dogs, however sadly awful at communicating with humans. I saw two very different sides of her in the span of months I purchased and scheduled herding lessons with her. She was welcoming initially, then spiraled into weirdly abusive interactions in which she would snap at me when I didn’t “perform” to her expectations, even going so far as to whip the flag at me in frustration. Ultimately she handed off a lesson I scheduled with her to her apprentice without even informing me, then refused to give me the final lesson I paid for, saying my time expired (though she never mentioned an expiration policy to me every time she asked for money--seems another reviewer, who gave Victoria one star as well, encountered a similar "robbing" of money). Victoria not only refused to give me the lessons I paid for, she refused to refund me and has ignored all of my correspondence since. In summary, Victoria turned out to be bizarrely unprofessional, downright rude, and disappointing. I’d like to believe perhaps she is just going through hard times, however her behavior is unacceptable. Be very, very careful—don’t fall for Victoria’s “herding” lessons—she’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
