The Teacher's Pet

We took our 6-month-old Mini Australian Shepherd to Kelly at The Teacher’s Pet LLC at the recommendation of some acquaintances who also own a Mini Aussie. It was a rocky start for Bindi as she didn’t like being away from us and she had never spent a night in a crate/kennel—only a few hours during the day occasionally & she has always slept on the bottom of our bed. Kelly was patient & consistent with her. Her effort paid off & the results were amazing! We are so pleased that after one week with Kelly, our Bindi is doing so well at walking & hiking on leash (no more pulling); sitting, laying down, staying “off” when greeting people; actually ignoring other dogs or greeting them without aggression; staying in “place” under the table or beside our chair at pet-friendly outdoor patio restaurants & even ignoring feral cats (most of the time) & being “quiet” when other dogs are barking or she hears strange noises. We are constantly receiving compliments on how well-behaved she is at only 7 months old. Kelly did a wonderful job at getting our pup and us on the right track for training. Kelly is a very knowledgeable trainer and resource. We needed guidance for training a service dog. Being in AZ for a limited visit, she worked us into her very full schedule. Witnessing how serious we were about working with our dog, she has continued to guide us through Zoom meetings, here in Oregon. She has been a constant support, responding to our questions very quickly while training. We are excited to work with her again, in person, during our upcoming AZ visit.

Kelly and her Teacher's Pet are amazing. It was a friend who referred Kelly to us when we got our small dog and needed to leave for vacations. Part of her system is do some training first, and signing up for that was one of the best decisions we made. We love our Puffy but didn't have clue on how to train him. With her work, besides being a cute and lovable dog, he is now also super well behaved and gets plenty of compliments when we take him out with us. We still use Kelly services anytime we have to travel out of town and we know Puffy will be in good hands.
