The Puppy Center - Bradford Dog Training

You can’t ask for a better dog trainer than Mary Bradford! This is the third time I’ve brought dogs to learn from Mary and her highest priorities are building a positive relationship between you and your puppy, and helping your puppy successfully and contentedly navigate the world around them. Mary makes sure each session is upbeat and encouraging. We work on a variety of skills in each class. She works with each dog and family to find solutions to individual issues, and provides a tons of resources to expand on training outside of class. In addition to training classes, Mary offers puppy play classes for puppies 11 - 18 weeks old. Not only do the puppies get to play and learn manners from each other under Mary’s supervision — you get to hang out with a bunch of puppies! Our puppy, Pepper, loves Mary and we do too!

We love Mary and her classes! I did A LOT of research on dog trainers in the area and no one came close (apparently many still use outdated alpha/punishment type techniques-yikes!). Mary only uses positive reinforcement which is the best way to train a puppy to be a polite, well mannered dog. Mary is one of those rare people who animals just gravitate to-plus she has SO much knowledge and experience with dog behavior that makes her classes priceless. You will be set up for success with your puppy after attending puppy kindergarten. She also offers level 2 classes which after completion allows you to attend higher level courses-tricks and games, on/off leash skills, loose leash walking, etc. We just completed puppy kindergarten with our Papillon and absolutely loved it. Mary not only teaches you and your pup in the classroom, but sends a wealth of information/guidelines in her training videos and various pamphlets...that way you can train at home and be confident in what you're teaching your pup. Class not only involved working on commands, she also had us work on getting comfortable with various obstacles, novel objects and puppy interactions. Our Loki absolutely adores Mary and we have loved going to class every week. There is also an option for puppy play class once a week for pups until they are 18 weeks old. Although my pup was a little too small and shy to play safely, it was a riot watching everyone else's puppies romp around! And Loki still got to watch and meet lots of people which has been great for him so far. It's a wonderful option to have you puppy learn to be a polite player with other pups-and saves you the work of finding other puppies to play with yours! We are now in the level two class and look forward to continuing to build our bond and work on helping Loki become a confident, obedient pup... I know I'll have a great dog eventually thanks to Mary. Highly recommend Bradford if you are in need of a dog trainer in Rochester...in fact, she's the only one I'd recommend. Thanks Mary, we appreciate everything so far :)
